Introduction
Pre Blast: Early Iron Lion 7/30/22 5:15am
Blues Clues reached out to me earlier this week and brought to my attention that I was hitting 1100 posts. He wants me to Q 1100 yards of bear crawls. Well, Aladdin threw that idea out the window with his Late Dark Tower Q this week. So come out to Iron Lion for something with 11 and something with 100 or a combination thereof (still working it out). Bring those coupons just in case and also because Wine in a Box has graciously volunteered to site Q. HC in the thread!
The Scene: Clear and low 60’s. YHC arrived around 5. Sprinklers were going in the football field, which I wanted to use for the thang and I thought, “eh, so we might get wet.” I put my whiteboards at either side of the field and parked in the regular spot. Flags planted. Ready to roll. Received a message that WiaB was coming in hot so vamped for a couple minutes with the disclaimer before starting the warmup.

F3 has 5 core principles: 1. Free 2. Open to ALL men 3. Peer led in a rotating fashion 4. Held outdoors rain or shine, heat or cold 5. Ends in a Circle of Trust
I am not a professional. You are here of your own free will. I have no knowledge of any injuries or fitness considerations. It is your responsibility to be safe and modify exercises as needed.
In cadence (IC) is the rhythm in between each rep or the body movement between each rep.
Our mission is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.

Single file mosey to the football field. As we moseyed, I mentioned that we might get wet. Then WiaB had the brilliant idea to just use the parking lot since it is the same distance as I wanted to use anyways and we wouldn’t impede the watering and seeding of the field. So we adapted on the fly and started Thang 1 in the high school parking lot.

If there is one event that truly encompasses all that F3 has to offer and wants to accomplish, it is GrowRuck. Nothing else matters when you set foot into this 14+ hour event. Everything you think you know about yourself will be challenged. Everything you think you know about yourself will either be solidified or invalidated. 1100 posts and 135 Q’s don’t mean squat when you are carrying over 100 pounds on your back or trying to help your platoon with a log and realizing that you can’t help as much as you thought you could.
There are more positive takeaways that come out of GrowRuck than negative ones. Yes, it is hard. Yes, you will be humbled. But you will also find strength from your brothers and within yourself. I witnessed a transformation within Red Platoon over the course of the night. At the beginning, we were not moving as cohesively as we could. But through the different changes in leadership and lessons learned through the course of the night led Red Platoon to finish ahead of all other platoons.
Personally, I will do it again. It may be a year or so, but it is well worth any man’s time to put in the work and put it to the test. I’m proud that I persevered through the night. I’m proud of my brothers that rose to the challenges and rose to help their brothers at every turn.
If you were on the fence about GrowRuck, hop down and join the next one if you can.
Peace,
Cousin Eddie
