Introduction
It was an icy morning out at The Bear in Westmont. Not too cold but had to be careful around the paths.
I scouted out the scene early this morning to find that the good side of the hill was an ice skating rink. Seeing as how we had 3 respects with us this morning I decided to play it safe and contend with a couple trees and the less icy side of the hill.
The ground was so frozen we couldn’t plant the flag and had to rest ol’ glory against a tree as we worked out. The frozen ground was angry my friends. But I’m happy to report 0 casualties and that includes coupons.

The Thang
Partnered up for a farmer’s carry to the hill from the east parking lot. Had to avoid a lot of ice on the paths and tried to stay on the grass as it crunched under our feet from the frost.
We made it to the hill and kept partners together.
One partner bear crawled up and completed 1 big boy and crawl beared down to relieve his partner who was getting his blockee on – that partner then takes his turn with the bear crawl/big boy/crawl bear
We continued this cycle until each partner completed 6 big boys at the top of the hill
On the bottom each pax completed 1. blockees 2. curls 3. skull crushers 4. Overhead press 5. Urkins 6. Coupon swings
Once both partners completed the cycle we lined up together and brought ol’ glory back into the mix.
Murder bunnies up the hill and reversed them bunnies back down all the while taking turns running the stars and stripes around the formation. We completed this cycle twice and @Pepper was the proud patriot to swing it down and up the hill to the top. The Marines at Iwo Jima would be proud as we honored them with coupons and a shovel flag.
Then a mosey back to the starting point for some Mary: 15 burpees, 15 American Hammers and a great group of Pax.
Circle of Trust
I touched on the men of the greatest generation who came before us and handed us this gift of a civilization. While none of us are likely to storm a beach any time soon we have our own modern struggles to contend with in 2022.
Hard times call for hard men and the iron sharpens the iron around Naperville F3. When you’ve got 12 men that show up in sub 20 degree weather, to carry around cinder blocks, you become aware of the dedication and camaraderie needed to volunteer for something like this.
I emphasized the need to keep putting in the work. We all have a better man inside us. Every day we should be waking up and striving to be HIM.
Prayers went out to PAX with some family struggles. We ended in the Lord’s Prayer.
