Introduction

Good morning – DT

—I am not a professional
—You are here at your own free will
—I am not aware of any injuries you may have
—We are here at different fitness levels, Modify if needed, but push yourself to get stronger

Principles of F3
—free of charge
—open to all men are
—held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold
—led by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion,
—End with a Circle of Trust

In the pre-blast, PAX were encouraged to commit to a running goal that can be accomplished within 35-40 minutes. It was very encouraging to see so many HCs along with a running goal stated. I set a 3.5mile goal before Mary!

The initial plan was to run, incline/decline up the 5 story parking lot (indigo hotel), however pavement conditions on the first two floors were slippery, slushy and not safe. Fortunately, was able to map out a small loop around the river while felt safe. The intention of the small loop was also to be closer to running passing by at different paces and encouraging each other.

  • Ran one loop with the whole crew to ensure they are aware of the path. They were directed to run the loop and get back to Mary by 5:58am, in hopes that everyone meet their committed goal by then.

Circle of Trust

Walt Disney said…”the difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting.

“No one will mourn your loss, son, because this isn’t losing your life; this is quitting it.” ― John Dutton from Yellowstone

Reality is we can’t always be the best in everything. we can’t be #1 in everything which means we aren’t winning all the time. I’d be ok to honor someone losing after them giving their best. Whether it is that bonus or lottery or that one relationship. We come up short at times, we lose. Maybe we even see second place as a loss. For those with kids, it is inevitable, and we have to explain to them on how to deal with losing, which really isn’t that bad, when compared to quitting.

When things get tough, we come up with excuses, and create justifications as to why something is unachievable. My last two RC, i had some legit reasons quit halfway, but thanks to the site Q Sweeney Todd and Aladdin for pushing me.

We don’t intentionally aim to lose, but if we do get the short end of the straw, it is important to remind ourselves that it is not the end of the world. We should be able to tolerate the inevitable losses, on the road to success, in this competitive world. But we have to re-wire ourselves to do that. We have to build new neural pathways, by substituting a new thought for an old thought. taking incremental steps to get better is key. One thing we can’t do is to quit completely. Whenever you feel like quitting, visualize the skill you would build, if you hung in. If need be, rely on someone else, seek help, etc.

Use the situations you lost on unaccomplished goals opportunities to find areas of improvement and focus on them.

Michael Jordan turns 58 today. It took him 7 years to make it to the NBA finals and then win 6 championships. He didn’t give up. He learnt from his losses and got better.

We have our own areas to improve and learn from vs just quitting.

Of the 24 Pax, majority of them not only met their committed goal, a lot of them had their new best in miles ran / pace or both in some cases. And those who may not have met the goal, I can assure that they didn’t just quite halfway. The small running loop enabled us to keep each other accountable. There was no room for anyone to slow down or walk, because you know someone is behind you ready to push you to not give up. Some even kept track on how many time Babyhands passed them. Hard not to notice someone who was just wearing shorts during minus temperatures, and ofcourse his speed.

It was an honor to lead PAX from different AO’s come to improve their running! There were def different level of runners in this group, but one thing common was the everyone there were determined and gave it their all. And that is WIN for all of us.

AOVQ at DT in the books. More to come!

Areas to improve: Even though I checked the loop prior to start, there were some icy spots that PAX had to get thru and adjusted accordingly. Need to be mindful to inform everyone sooner, to avoid any injuries.
