Patience
I jotted this down about a week ago when I signed up to Q, before all the madness.  Thought about changing the topic, but decided to stick with my theme.  I’ve been thinking a lot about patience lately. My grandfather passed away when I was 10 but one thing i vividly remember him talking about is the importance of patience.  Patience doesn’t come naturally to me and is something I struggle with, so I feel like he somehow knew I need his advice.
I’ve been really trying to focus on being patient during these times.  We’ve been cooped up with our families, work is not normal, and now with the aftermath of the death of George Floyd…nerves are a little shot.  Tempers can flare more quickly.
But now is the time to be true leaders and HIMs.  With so many different opinions and lightning quick release of information, I think we all could benefit from taking a taking a deep breath and giving people a chance to do the right thing. Blart did a great job in his post yesterday that you should all read.  Listen the other person and try to understand their position instead of rushing to judgment.  And I know for myself, when things aren’t going right for me, the kids are bothering me for constant assistance, my work emails are blowing up, I’m going to take deep breath, use my grandfather’s advice of patience, and remember that the hardest thing i will do today is 45 minutes behind me

Naked Man Moleskin

This was a tough one today.  I slept about 2 hours last night because of the helicopters circling our house and yelling in the streets. I’ve lived in Naperville my whole life and never thought I would experience something like this.

But I woke up today in a mood to lead and move forward.  There is no better way to do that with an awesome group of HIMs that joined me.  Thanks to everyone that came out this morning and supported each other.  I was really happy to see Sewer Pipe join us from Geneva as well as some others that I have never worked out with (nice to meet you virtually!) and those that I haven’t seen in a while (good to see Crab Legs on the mend!).

Be kind and be patient with each other

Townie
