Circle of Trust

I’ve been thinking about failure.  Last weekend I ran a half marathon that I’d been training for, and fell well short of my goal for the race.  Wasn’t even close to a PR, I tried a different approach, conditions weren’t ideal, but I was the most exhausted I’ve ever been after a race.  Even though I failed to hit my goal, I felt good after the race.  I tried a different strategy, it didn’t work, but I left everything I had energy wise out there.  I was happy that I really pushed to try and hit my goal, but going forward I’ve got several takeaways and learnings to better myself for next time.

Have you put yourself in a challenging situation of late, where you might not hit your goal?  I’ve found over the years that I learned and grown more from the times that I’ve fallen short, than times where I’ve had success.   My advice, make sure you’re going after challenges each week, month, whatever it may be, where you can’t guarantee success.  Let’s grow together, aye!

Naked Man Moleskin

Great group of guys this morning, solid energy.

Bassmaster just continues to impress me with how much faster he continues to get.  We didn’t do a ton of running today, but when we did, I’m pretty sure he smoked me every time.  Separately, I appreciated Bassmaster calling me out at coffee a few weeks ago, asking me when I was going to Q another black diamond BC.  I get intimidated to lead this group, thinking I won’t be able to make the workout challenging enough, so I definitely needed the push.

I love/hate Smokey.   I tried to make the workout challenging, but I’m pretty sure his heart rate never exceeded 100 during the workout.
