Introduction

PREBLAST BLACK DIAMOND RUN CLUB – PIONEER PARK – 1/4/23 5AM

I want to keep the group close together, encourage competition, and even the playing field. So, if you think you’re in the top 50%-60% of PAX that have HC’d (or want a challenge) please wear a vest :safety_vest:.  I’d recommend a headlamp :flashlight:.

And we’re off to our warm up run.

The Thang

  • Warm-up. Mosey from the parking lot along the trail across the bridge and up hobson mill road to scott circle. Turn around and go back to the entrance to the trail on hobson mill. This is to show the pax where the hill intervals will go to.
  • 2 Hill repeats (0.2mi) to the top of the hill from the trail head to Scott circle. Start together each time, recovery back down to the bottom. After the repeats mosey back across the bridge (0.25mi) to the trail up to the Pioneer Park outlet is to stop and pick up the sandbag for the next Thang.
  • 2 groups. One group indian run from starting point to Gartner and back (0.68mi) with a sandbag. Other group without a sandbag indian run to Hobson and back (0.77mi). Try to beat the other team.  Shells and Serena ran with the sand bag and beat Bush, Harbaugh and myself.
  • Roughly quarter mile intervals, 4 total. Start all together up each time. Interval 1. Pioneer Park entrance to Gartner (0.33mi), Inverval 2. Gartner north to Villa Ave along the trail (0.25mi). Reverse back to to Pioneer Park for Intervals 3 & 4.
  • 2 groups. One group indian run from starting point to Gartner and back (0.68mi) with a sandbag. Other group without a sandbag indian run to Hobson and back (0.77mi). Try to beat the other team.  Accidently skipped this initially, but added this back as the final thang to close out the run.  Harbaugh and I ran with the sandbag (mostly Harbaugh, he’s a beast), however, we lost to Bush, Serena and Shells.
  • Mosey on the trail across the bridge to Hobson Mill. (0.25mi)
  • Hill interval to Scott Circle (0.2mi)
  • Indian Run from Scott Circle along Hobson Mill right on Olesen Ln, left on Hobson to Oxford Ln. (0.63mi)
  • 2 Quarter Mile Intervals. Interval 1. Hobson to 75th along Oxford Ln (0.25mi), Interval 2 is the reverse back to Hobson.
  • Indian run from Oxford Ln along Hobson, right on Hobson Mill to the trail head at the bottom of the hill (0.59mi). If running short on time, head back to Pioneer park (0.91mi if Hobson Mill to trail route or Hobson to trail and back is 0.84mi). Ran straight back to our starting point to finish with an Indian Run with Sandbag race.
  • Mosey back across the bridge along the trail to the parking lot (0.3mi) Recover Recover
  • If ahead of schedule: Can either do a lap around Le Provence Circle 0.28mi plus 0.3mi back to the parking lot (5-6 minutes needed). Or another hill interval (0.7mi) including trip back to parking lot (7-8 minutes needed).   Had to nix this as we were running a bit short on time.

Circle of Trust

Mental Weakness.

We all have points on a daily basis when we are mentally weak.  Personally, I’ve dealt with a lot of weakness around binge eating, and being with my kids, but not fully present with them.  Whatever it is, we all have weaknesses we’re dealing with.

We need to focus on holding ourselves accountable, and call ourselves out in the moment when we’re being mentally weak.  If we need, ask someone else to help hold us accountable, reach out to someone you trust.  Ultimately, let’s strive to become stronger men.  Aye!

Ended with an Our Father

Naked Man Moleskin

Major props to Harbaugh for getting back out to a BDRC.  He had a hurt shoulder yet still carried a sandbag on our two man indian run for at least half a mile.  Way to carry our two man team, Harbaugh.

Was very humbling to constantly be the 6 at my own Q, but that’s why I love these BDRCs, makes you want to push harder, to get better.  Awesome push by this group today, was a lot of fun.
