Introduction

It was a very simple warm-up at DT today, “get on your bikes and let’s ride”.

The biggest challenge for having a bike q is getting a long enough ride inside of the 45 minute workout time constraints.  We had zero time to waste!

Disclaimer was read and we partnered up with a riding buddy.  We also gave all PAX the Q and site Q’s cell number in case of emergency.

Warm-O-Rama

None to speak of.

The Thang

We headed east to Eagle street and took a left heading north.  We traveled north until we hit Jefferson and we changed direction heading west. We traveled down Jefferson until we hit the river trail heading north.  The plan was simple ride as fast and as far as can for 22 minutes or until we hit 5:37. Once we hit that mark we turn around and headed back to DT. Belchick and I jumped out front and we rode til we hit Warrenville road.  Once we turned around it now became race to see if you could pass the PAX that were out in front.  We traveled approx 11 miles in 45 minutes with avg speed of just shy of 16mph.  The conditions were nice and it was a great ride.

Circle of Trust

I spoke briefly about losing/burying my best friend which took place one week ago.  I expressed my sadness for losing a brother like that, but I also expressed how much harder it would for a parent to bury a child or a child to lose their father.

Naked Man Moleskin

No matter how hard you have it there is always someone that has it harder.  Bottom line stop feeling sorry for yourself and make yourself better each day.

I am in the process of starting a scholarship for my fallen brother at our alma mater (AA Stagg HS). Plan is simple, award a monetary scholarship annually to a college bound student that the football coaches feel represents the qualities that Matt Burke stood for and represented while a student-athlete at Stagg.  I think it might be to late in the game to have a golf outing this year to fund the award, so for the first year I plan on receiving funds all through donations.  Following this year we will be putting together an annual golf outing to fund the scholarship.  I think this will be an amazing way to honor my friend.
