I prepared a quote that I had previously used during a Lincoln Games Q for this morning a that involved the Titan, Atlas. It became all the more relevant after an incident with my youngest, my daughter, on Monday night.
I won’t bore with the back story and lengthy details, but as a single father I have played many roles to my son and daughter. I have always been there and will always be there for them.
In discussing my daughter’s upcoming 11th birthday, she told me that she no longer wanted to celebrate the event. Later in the conversation she stated that she only wanted one birthday celebration and she wanted that celebration to take place with her “family”.
That family, as you may guess is not me, but a different household.
I reminded the PAX that often times children in these situations are feel in the middle, are manipulated, and do not mean what they say. Although their words can be dagger to the heart, you have to look past that and realize the big picture.
This brought me to the original CoT…
“The Titan Atlas was responsible for bearing the weight of the heavens on his shoulders, a burden given to him as punishment by Zeus. When Atlas begged Zeus for mercy, he did not ask for the King of Olympus to lighten the weigh of the world, he asked him to make his shoulders broader to be able to carry the heavy world better.”
“Ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders. Life is tough, but so are you.”
When faced with adversity in life, don’t pray for it to go away, pray for the strength to face it. Go towards it head on, men. Because if you don’t face it, who will? No one.
If you were at the Convergence you heard my CoT about our F3 Family. You all have a family here. You don’t have to face anything alone. Reach out, ask for help, talk to your brothers, pray for strength and patience.
Walk towards the problem and stand tall. Aye!
We prayed for Hot Box and his family that they will find strength and patience while they begin to travel on this difficult path. We also prayed for the families in Highland Park who started the day laughing and enjoying themselves, hoping to watch a parade, catch pieces of candy, listen to marching bands and enjoy Americana….and all that was ripped from them. Some of them never came home.

Welcome to FNG J-Lo who came here from, you guessed it, the Bronx. Named by Dabo. I don’t even want to know if his “Hips don’t lie”. But I do know that his first day out to F3 and he ran over 3 miles and wasn’t the 6. He probably won’t read this, but nice job, buddy. Say what’s up to Ben for us.
Also need to recognize Ryobi who was on my 6 most of the run. He’s a bit over 2 months into F3 and he’s going strong. Uses no tracking device, just goes at it. Me, “Ryobi, how was your pace?” Ryobi, “I don’t know. I was just running.” haha. Ryobi=beast.
Time to get on the Q sheet, Ryobi.
Seriously, Ryobi, do it. Just kidding. But no really, it’s time.
Slum Lord is the consummate professional at Site Q.
Love the atmosphere as we run past each other at different paces and cheer each other on to do our best. That is F3 all the way.
