Circle of Trust
CoT: I’m a big country music fan not just for the way it sounds but the messages a lot of songs send. There’s this song called “dear today” by Luke Combs that I think is very meaningful so I’d like to share some of its wisdom with.
The song is luke of tomorrow writing a letter to luke of today and tomorrow is basically telling him he needs to shape up. The introduction and chorus reads:
Dear today, tomorrow here
Man I was just checkin’ in
Hope you’ve been well
Me, I’m doin’ alright
Could always be better
Seeing as you’re the only one with a choice in the matter.
If I know you, hell, you’re too busy
To do damn near anything that you ought to
Guess what I’m sayin’ is, if you don’t change
Boy, you’ll be kickin’ yourself one of these days.
“So maybe you should call our mama
Have a drink with our old man
Quit wastin’ our sweet time
And put that diamond on her hand
Stop takin’ me for granted
Like I’ll always be around
‘Cause even as you read this, boy, that clock is tickin’ down
And remember every second I’ve got’s borrowed
So I hope you think of me today
Sincerely, tomorrow
So now I’m asking you, after hearing that, what would your tomorrow tell you to if he saw your actions of today?
I heard this song shortly after my mom called me and told me she was having heart issues, a few weeks later Noonan passed away so this song really resonated with me.
I need to spend more time with my parents and the people close to me. Nothing is guaranteed in life so we need to make the necessary changes before it’s too late. So as we carry on with our day today let’s think of the choices we make and how they effect our tomorrow. Aye?
PRAYER: Dear lord, thank you for giving us the strength to be out here today and keeping us safe in the gloom. Please continue to look after these men and their families as we go about our lives and help us be the best men we can be so if our tomorrow were to check in he would be proud.
Please keep Cataracts and his daughters friend Kaitlyn and all other prayers spoken and unspoken in your heart as they proceed through difficult times as well.
In your name we pray… AMEN.
