Introduction

YHC did not have much of a preblast, however I did post a message about attending this workout as warm up for the main event of the evening. Show up, get your ticket or pay the price of admission at the door.

Being honest, I was struggling to plan a workout for the 23rd hour of the day.  Maybe 5 min set up time, unknown number of guys (not on slack that day), where the hell I would be physically and mentally. Hell, I was even running through how it would go off if I couldn’t finish F324. Through out the day, it became clear to me that what I had planned, was not what was needed nor in front of us.  Then I remembered why I wanted to Q this time slot. Last year, we had a lot of guys show up at 11pm, tons of energy for the last run. However, its dark, there are only 45 minutes and its hard to know who’s there. I wanted the PAX to get some solid movement in but knew the real beatdown was coming at 11pm. This was about the pre-party, getting together, doing some childish things like lining up in alphabetical order, tallest to shortest or by tenure in F3 and dishing out penalties.  I wanted it to be about that 30 man mosey when everyone can have a conversation, someone can rip a fart, or drop a wicked one liner. I wanted it to be more than a workout. However, I had not realized this until about 9:30pm…time for an audible….Omaha! Omaha!

Warm-O-Rama

When we started, I had no idea what we were going to do. Sometimes the group just gives off a vide and since I had not seen a monkey humper yet today, here we go.

Circle up, stretch right leg over left for 10, reverse for 10, feet together fold for 10.

Low squat, grab ankles, 24 monkey humpers, feet out a little wider, 15 gorilla humpers, Feet a little wider, 15 silver back humpers. Recover.

The Thang

Thang 1 – YHC wanted to get the PAX to know each other, we circled up in plank, counted in plank, did a quick name o Rama (names only) in plank, then asked the PAX to line up in alphabetical order from A – Z in 25 seconds, the first time the Pax messed up at R. Penalty monkey humpers to 24 were dishes out. Line up Z-A in 25 seconds, PAX nailed it and we were able to move on the Thang 2.

Thang 2 – mosey to shelter, mumble chatter was strong, energy was picking up. At shelter asked PAX to get two to a table, we performed a squat press on the picnic table, YHC did a quick demo and said 5 each side. Was really impressed with the PAX form on these, also played them the BabyHands song. Next, line up tallest to shortest, Overthrow (I think) was the tallest, Hootie the shortest. This served two purposes, both team work and organized PAX for the next exercise which was picnic table carries. Having 4 guys to a table close in height avoided undo stress on individual guys while carrying or lifting. We lifted, carried, lifted carried for about 5 min. Returned tables, performed step ups to 20 IC and were back to the lot. I’ll be back to the pavilion, some good team work can be done with those tables.

Thang 3 – mosey and mumble chatter back to the flags. Asked PAX to line up from newest to oldest in F3. YHC had no way of knowing but the PAX were honest, took them three times to get it right in the time allotted. Monkey humpers were dished out as penalties. Counted off by 2’s, divided teams up and asked each to linen up on opposite ends of the volleyball courts. YHC did not participate in this quick thang but it seemed liked the PAX really enjoyed it. Simple, race to the net and back, first team with everyone back across wins. Picture Braveheart with two armies running at each other, hi fiving in the middle and running back just as fast. Was a cool sight in the gloom, lots of laughs. YHC called a few DQs just to get the rep count up to 3. To those that received the DQ, it had to be somebody, it’s not personal 😉. Final thang was a quick set of Bernie sanders, hand release merkins and crawl bears on the small hill.

YHC was not able to anymore ab work, cramps crushing me all day and the ab cramps had me feeling like a rolley polley. We stretched for the last 5, finishing with a 30 second stargazer, 6 of us waited a long time for that 30 secs.

Circle of Trust

We must be willing to give up the life we planned, so we can live the life that’s waiting for us. By Joseph Campbell

Asked the PAX to think on this, but wish I would have articulated more on the spot. Be present, plan for the future but live in the present. I kept telling the other 5 guys all day, find something at each workout, a different guy to talk to, the elements, the terrain. Don’t worry about the next workout, slay the workout you’re doing all damn day. Be present and enjoy the moment.

Naked Man Moleskin

Had no idea how I was going to lead PAX after 22 hours. However, it’s amazing how the pain goes away and with a few on the fly adjustments you can really get a BC going. Loved the energy, knew the next and final BC was going to be special, really a highlight of the day for YHC personally. Appreciated everyone coming out a little early, awesome stuff.
