The Thang
We did about a 1 mile run as a group at a warm up pace to the Four Lakes Ski Hill
Explanation given…Ladder up and down the hill 1-2-3-4-3-2-1 for a total of 16 times up the hill. 10-20 counts between each rung in the ladder.
Lined up at the bottom and off we went.
Decided after the rung where we went up 4 times to pause at the top of the hill once each PAX completed his 4th run up the hill.
Unfortunately a little cloudy so didn’t get to see a good sunrise like I hoped. Had each PAX share his purpose for what motivates him to do what he does with F3. Once final PAX shared we made our way down the hill to complete the finally 3 rungs of the ladder.
I thought we were going to be short on time so was going to skip the last rung (1 trip up the hill). Serena said respectfully Bush Push you can’t talk about purpose and then cut the ladder short. He was right and we had time to complete the final rung. Everyone left it all on the hill on that final run up. Thanks for the motivation Serena!
Once everyone completed their 16th time up and down we ran back to the parking lot at a recovery pace for COT.
Circle of Trust
Shared how I struggled for a long time with doing things out of fear. Fear for not living life to the fullest. Fear of death. Fear of wasting my second chance on life. Fear of not accomplishing what I wanted in life. Fear of not being the man my family needs. Then someone asked me if I only look at doing things out of fear or could I look at doing things out of a zest for life. I started to see that being driven by fear had made me be selfishly motivated. I was doing things to quite my fears not live the life God created for me. Having a zest for life helped removed some of that selfishness and put the focus on living a more joyful life being what God has made us to be. Being a better man, husband and father by zestfully embracing the life God has given and the purpose for our life.
Closed with prayer. Thanking God for our lives, for our healthy bodies and abilities to do what we did today, for his creation including the hill we labored up and down today. Prayed that we focus on the zest for life over our fears. We prayed for Sarah’s (Serena’s sister/Glenn’s M) positive progress and continued healing as well as healing for Pi’s wife as she undergoes treatment for cancer. Moment of silence for prayers in our hearts. Finished with an Our Father.

My second BD workout was on this hill last year. Blues Clues lead it. Trickle was there then and today. Afterwards today, we talked about how hard that workout was and that one PAX threw up at the top of the hill. What I didn’t share was I have been thinking about this workout since last year when that hill took my soul. I’ve been waiting for another crack at that damn hill.
So when I woke up this morning I had an even bigger “Black Diamond Pit” in my stomach than normal. I knew how hard this was going to be. Could I handle it? Was I going to be able to last the entire time with a 20 lb vest on? Was I going to be the one who pukes this time? Would I let the HIM’s down who I was leading because I would be too slow? Why the hell did I say vest up?
It was as hard as I thought it would be but there was no puke. Everyone went up and down the ladder together. We all finished the ladder. Everyone heard Ball Boy call 6:00 together. This meant any questions of doubt or fear we had in us were answered. Yes we were stronger physically and mentally than that hill. It did not break us. We did not quit. We conquered the hill by finishing the ladder. We became better Men together!
Great work to Ball Boy, Heisenberg, Shells n Cheese, Shirley Temple, Serena, NoseJob and Trickle!!
Oh and thank God the rain held off until our final rung. Might have been more of a slip n slide vs hill workout had the skies opened up earlier.
Shout out to Heisenberg for his first BDRC. You can fly brother. Looking forward to having you at more
