Introduction
Pre-Blast 6/4/21 05:15 Base Camp
Let’s start Friday off with some S.M.I.L.ES. for my official VQ!
Since we had such an intimate day with coupons Weds, we can leave them home without them feeling neglected.
No coupons needed, but bring some gloves since we’ll be moving around a bit.
See you all in the morning!
Warm-O-Rama
5 Core Principles, Disclaimer.
Warm up in the parking lot consisted of movements from one side of parking lot to the other (high knees, bernie sanders, karaoke, choice) and group stretches at each end (calf stretch, arm circles, butterfly, etc).
Once sufficiently warm, we began Thang 1
The Thang
Thang 1 consisted of a group mosey to five (5) spots around the detention pond and up to base camp.
At each stop, as a group we did twelve (12) of each of the following exercises for some S.M.I.L.ES. as a different PAX led the count at each spot:
Side Saddle Hops
Merkins
Ice (Mountain) Climbers
LBCs
Explosive Squats (Squats with a jump finish)
Our last stop brought us to the base of the hill and right into Thang 2.
We split into two teams of four PAX.
One PAX from each team would Bear Crawl to the top of the hill and perform three (3) Burpees while the remaining PAX would do Big Boy Sit-ups or Squats until all members have did the Bear Crawl
A quick sprint and squat exercise brought us to the top of the Mt. Riemer for Mary. Mary consisted of 3 x 45second rounds of Leg Lifts, LBCs, and American Hammers using the “not so random” randomizer.
A 2-minute plank-o-rama brought us right to 6 a.m. (including Tinkle’s group introduction to “J-Lo” planks.
Circle of Trust
After struggling to find a name for our solar-panel slingin’ FNG (Welcome, Big Oil!), and also a totally botched Name-O-Rama, we circled up for some thoughts and reflections.

Base Camp has been officially open for one month. In that time the same HIMs have returned week after week and day after day to get better and to help the HIMs around them to be better.
It has personally been a great experience for me to be a part of this group with these men.
Suez’s surgery was successful and now is on the long road to recovery.
Prayers for Dragnet’s mother and Speedo’s mother were offered to the group for continued strength and recovery.
Dragnet closed us out with a thoughtful prayer for health and fellowship.
Naked Man Moleskin
As I looked at the date of this workout for my official VQ, I realized that Base Camp officially has been open one month.
Personally, from a year-plus of limited inactivity besides having a physically demanding job, to posting 3+ times per week, F3 has been the spark I needed to make the change within myself.
I have needed a place of fellowship and a group to hold me accountable to avoid sticking with the same routine.
With this group of HIMs gathered each day at Base Camp, I have found that place.
It was easy to eat that crappy food for dinner, have that extra beer, or stay up later than I should when I did not have to be ready to go early the next day.
But now, I know that tomorrow’s Q will be there ready to push me, so I need to be ready for them.
No change brings no change.
Thanks for having my 6, Fathom! And for that random Monday phone call mid-April about a workout right down the street from me.
