EXTENDED VERSION: On Single Parenting, Reinvention, and Jake the Snake Roberts:
I shared with the PAX how I came up one short of hitting ATR13. Knocked out 12 AO’s, with about 6 or 7 different AO Q’s in February however this past Saturday I couldn’t make BP as I had my daughters basketball game at 830am and I thought it was 930am. No questions about going to F3 and missed ATR13. The priority is my daughter so ATR13 can come another time. Again, not even a question as my daughter is and will also be priority number one.
Single parenting is hard man. Not because this decision is was hard. It just forces you to be binary with some things and sometimes, people do not understand it.
That said, I left the PAX with a little something I learned from a documentary last night about former WWE Wrestler, Jake the Snake Roberts. Dude was at the top of this game, was the most liked villain in WWE in the 80’s and 90’s. He also became addicted to crack. Took one of the worst turns in his life. Nearly committed suicide multiple times and has some terrible stories behind the scenes. Yet, he’s still alive. In fact, he’s been sober for 10 years. He has a pretty horrible story about growing up, a story about he chased success and abandoned his family, again, almost killed himself multiple times with drugs and alcohol yet for the last 10 years he did what many of us do…he focused on how to GET RIGHT. And he has. He’s become a new man.
It was wild. Cause what got him right?
- Fitness – he attributed to Yoga he started doing to getting back in shape and focusing on health
- Fellowship – His buddy Diamond Dallas Page reached out and starting working out with him doing the Yoga, showed him someone cares about him, connected him with love and fellowship
- Faith – He found God man

He ends the documentary talking about he is going to focus the rest of his life on GETTING RIGHT. Literally closing out the documentary the way we all start our journey here.
