Introduction

72 degrees with 90% humidity. The perfect temperature for a beatdown. The Thang I had planned was very straightforward, and it almost seemed too easy on paper. A half mile run with 3 exercises, on repeat. It was anything but easy, especially when the Pax push each other.

Circle of Trust

This workout is dedicated to U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Keith “Matt” Maupin, 24, of Batavia, Ohio, who disappeared on April 9, 2004, when insurgents south of Baghdad attacked his convoy with small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. His remains were found on March 20, 2008. Prior to his disappearance, Maupin served as part of the 724th Transportation Company in Bartonville, Illinois.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn; father, Keith; a brother and sister; and many other friends and family members.

I was recently complaining to my wife about numerous different things, whether it be all the restrictions because of COVID, the civil and political unrest of the country and world, and the stresses of getting the kids everything they need for remote learning. Then I read about the soldier we dedicated this workout to, and it helped give me perspective on how blessed I am. To have who I have, and what I have, in my life. I am going to attempt to keep that perspective next time I read the news or am “inconvenienced” by what I perceive to be some major issue, and I would encourage you to do the same.

Naked Man Moleskin

I appreciate the 11 other HIM that joined me in the gloom for a Labor Day beatdown. I have been wanting to utilize a hero workout and figured that was a great opportunity to try one out. Simple, but very effective. And we were able to remember a fallen soldier who fought for our freedom. I’ll be using these types of workouts again for sure.
