Introduction

Another cool, but surprisingly humid morning outside my door. Betting the humidity was similar for Pedro down in Missouri, and I’d guess the same for Car Seat in New York. YHC was a bit nervous about this one as I was doing the whole beatdown from memory– “Look Ma! No Wienke!” Startex rolled around pretty quickly as it does, and we were off

Warm-O-Rama

Warm – o – rama consisted of my favorites, Tappy Taps, arm circles and some Imperial Walkers.

Decided to mix it up a bit and we did a couple sun salutations into a lunge with a twist for a good stretch. Still need to work on my Broga instructor skills.

The Thang

Flutie Flakes brought the OG Jack Webb to Virtuosity recently, which inspired me to tackle it’s cousin today, the Dark Webb which consists of the following exercise pairs performed in ascending sets in a 1:2 ratio–we took each one to 10:20

  • Jack Webb: One merkin to 2 kneeling air presses
  • Dan Taylor: One jump squat to 2 Bonnie Blairs (each leg is 1/2 — NB: it’s alot easier to count this as a single 4 count Bonnie Blair, but then the ratio doesn’t make sense… can’t win)
  • Captain Thor: One BBSU to 4 American Hammers (see the note about 4-count exercises above–I’m telling you it makes it alot easier)
  • Happy Jacks! One burpee to 2 4-count Side Straddle Hops

YHC took the pax through the first one in cadence, and we took on the next 3 parts OYO. You could really take this up a notch by calling the whole thing in Cadence to cut down on rest and drive the pace…. If you were that kinda guy…

The pax managed to wrap up the thang just in time for a little Mary which consisted of

  • two times around a plank merkin ring of fire
  • Flutter Kicks
  • LBC
  • Shoulder Taps

Circle of Trust

I didn’t have alot of time to plan for this beatdown, but hopefully it’s a reminder that you don’t have to make things complicated or flashy. You just have to get started and do the work. Consistent action, even when you don’t feel ready is the surest way to move forward in anything. Research and planning are helpful, but only in direct proportion to the action that is taken as a result. With zero action, you get zero results.

We also offer our prayers for Bean Counter’s friends as they mourn the tragic and sudden loss of a their six-year-old child.

Naked Man Moleskin

Dan Taylor’s are awful, and 36 hours out my butt still hurts. That is all.
