Introduction
Had family in from out of town, and wanted to log a couple miles to wrap up the week, so the Mammoth was the best option – close to home, and great for running.
Waited for the preblast to come – never did, so YHC checked to see who was on Q. Turns out, no one.
Selfishly, I grabbed it threw a preblast up and started thinking about what to do.
Arrived at the AO a little early, and watched some cars roll in. It was supposed to be a hot day, but it was nice in the morning – warm, but not terrible.
Warm-O-Rama
We moved around a bit to get warm – mosey the length of the parking lot, shuffle across, bernie sanders back the length, shuffle the other way back to the start. 2nd time around, butt kickers the length of the parking lot. Carioca sideways across, bernie sanders back and carioca the other way.
Do a bit of stretching while the route was explained.
The Thang
Thang 1:
run left around the lake, including the island loop.
When you get back to the parking lot, run up the path toward the zoo and turn left. Run down and around the fountain and back to the lot (the lollipop).
Rinse and repeat, returning to the flags at 7:15.
Thang 2:
A few random sprint distances – like back and forth to trees, or across the lot, etc. Also, some random starting positions – either on our 12, laid all the way down, or standing. Idea was to pop up and sprint a short distance.
We ended up at the gate near the fountain at about 7:25.
Mosey back to the flags for:
Theresa:
Standing Hamstring Stretch > Downward Dog > Alternating Calf Stretch > Standing Hamstring Stretch > IT band Stretches.
Circle of Trust
YHC Shared about preparedness – being totally prepared for what we can expect so we can more easily handle the unexpected. If not for showing up to run clubs, training in the hot and cold, feedback received from AAR, etc., YHC would have not been prepared to take a last minute Q.
Now, this isn’t about me, I was just the one who noticed the opening. Plenty of other HIMs across F3 Naperville are well prepared to do the same thing. What this is about is ensuring we, as leaders, prepare our 2.0s, Ms, others in our concentrica to be prepared as well.
Prayers were shared giving thanks to the Sky Q for the brotherhood we share, pushing us to do better. Special intentions were shared PAX in attendance as well as for mental health of our youth in general.
Naked Man Moleskin
Sadie is a good example of preparedness – she’s been training for 2 years to catch a rabbit, and today, she did.
Now… the question is, was Iced Tea prepared for Sadie to catch that rabbit? Hmm…. 🙂
