Introduction
Preblast – Citadel – 5.24.2022 – 0515
Hey @channel, it’s been a week since I’ve been ITG, so I need to get out an get a good solid full body workout in to get back on track – seems like the momentum I had started during Lincoln Games was lost. Any of you in the same boat? Come on out to the Citadel tomorrow, and let’s get right together. Bring your coupon and be ready to move at 5:15 sharp! HC in the thread and let’s get after it!
Little did I know when I took the Q for this day it would be the one year anniversary for La Luz. Guess that means it would be a small crew. Snowden tried to get a few more HCs, but when the dust settled, it was Puddles, Snowden and YHC. Looks like I’ll be the 6.
Naturally, couldn’t get to sleep the night before – not the usual pre Q jitters, but watching hockey. Damn Avalanche.
When the alarm went off, I was actually surprised how awake I was with how little sleep I got (but as I type this, it’s hard to keep my eyes open). Grabbed a couple cones, got in the car and arrived at about 5.
On arrival, did a quick survey of the scene and put the cones up – hill is in good shape, and for some reason, no gnats! This was gunna be a good one.
Snowden came, then Puddles, after a bit of chit chat, 5:15 rolled around, core principles were shared and pax were given a warning with a disclaimer, then we were off!
Warm-O-Rama
YHC wanted to move about to get warmed up, so that’s what we did…
Mosey to the soccer field near the discus cage.
10 Tappy Taps in Cadence
20 twisting lunge walks across the field In Cadence
10 Abe Vigotas in Cadence
Mosey around the lot to the northeast corner of the lot
10 Arm Circles forward, 10 backward, 10 seal claps, 10 overhead claps, 10 grady corn – all In Cadence
Mosey back to the flags, grab the coupons and mosey to the base of the hill for thang 1.
The Thang
After a quick 10 count, we got after it
Thang 1: 7s on the hill (like 11s, but only 7)
Base of the hill, blockees, midway up the hill (where cones were set up), big boys, feet uphill
Pax all finished about the same time, we left coupons here and moseyed to the playground for
Thang 2: 7s at the playground
Pull ups and Merkins
Mosey over to the bridge over Eola for
Thang 3: 7s on the bridge
Squats and Big Boys
YHC was a bit ambitious here – first 2 trips across the bridge were bear crawls. After a watch check, we switched to simply jogging. Secretly YHC was glad about this – the bear crawls would have really sucked by the end.
Mosey on back to the base of the and grab the coupons, 20 quick curls on my up, then bring them back to the flags.
Mary:
20 LBCs in Cadence
20 Heel Touches in Cadence
20 Flutter Kicks in Cadence
Stand up and get a nice hamstring stretch for a minute until it was 6:00 – recover, recover
Circle of Trust
YHC read a passage a few days ago about a bible character who was called to lead, but never became a hero like David or Timothy. The takeaway was to lead however we are called to, and with humility, as it was our God who put us in the role, not ourselves.
Naturally YHC couldn’t remember who it was in the passage (looking now it was Epaphroditus), which may have made the point even better.
Pax closed with an Our Father
Naked Man Moleskin
I’ve been struggling to get ITG, seems like I’ve had a mix of really good reasons, and sprinkled in are some really lame excuses. Regardless, I have failed to get right (except a 6 pack during Lincoln Games), and need to get back on track. I am finishing up my 41st trip around the sun in a couple days, and was honored to get one last Q in before I’m 42. I look forward to getting my next year started off with some solid momentum.
Thanks Puddles for making sure it wasn’t just Snowden and YHC out there today. Your consistency is amazing, and thank you Snowden – when there is a small convergence just a couple miles away, it’s tough to be site Q and tied down. It’s appreciated!
