Introduction
I’ve never Q’d a Run Club before and if you know me well, you know it’s been years since I was much of a runner. But I saw an opening on the Q sheet during the holidays and thought, “How hard could it be?” I had a nice little loop planned for a morning of running — and then the snow rolled in and made a mess of everything. So we went to the back-up plan…
Warm-O-Rama
Clear some snow out of the way and do the following:
-15 Abe Vigodas IC
-15 Imperial Walkers IC
-15 Tappy Taps IC
-25 SSH IC
The Thang
Focused on some intervals to keep PAX from falling all over the place. Started with a mosey to the 5-story Naperville parking garage. Then…
First exercise: Sprint the flat portion of the parking garage, slower jog up the ramp. Repeat until we reach the top.
Second exercise: PAX broke into teams and ran suicide relay races down the length of the top floor of the parking garage. Winners got to stay and hold plank or do SSH (their choice). Losers had to run back down a level and come back. We did this twice.
After this, we moseyed back down the garage and to the flags.
Third exercise: Snowy 11s on the hill. Squats at the bottom, SSH at the top. Keep going until time for Mary.
Mary: Tried to keep our 6s out of the snow, so we did:
-1 minute hold squat
-Ring of fire with five merkins each
-15 imperial walkers
-1 minute plank hold
Circle of Trust
With New Year’s upon us, focus was on making tangible goals for the new year for all three Fs, and for family as well. Don’t just say “work out more” or “spend more time with family.” Make a concrete goal that you can actually aim for and achieve: A certain number of posts, a 100-Burpee challenge, a specific number of vacation days you intend to take, etc.
Naked Man Moleskin
Thanks for everyone for coming out in the snow and dragging me through my own workout, as I was often in the rear. Appreciate the support!
