Introduction
If you sleep through your alarm and miss the BD run club or if you end up shoveling more snow than you thought and miss the BD run club, or if you just want to support YHC, then this is the Run Club for you. It’s Groundhog Day so we are going to do an out and back that I have done before. I have faith that the roads will be clear enough to travel this route so make sure you have a headlamp and some reflective clothing if possible. HC in the thread. SYITG
The Scene: Snow and lots of it. The streets were not too bad and I arrived a couple minutes early to see Radio Flyer plant the flag. I knew Iced Tea and Sadie would be joining us. Mellencamp had HC’d that morning. I had briefly toyed with the idea of switching to a Ruck but the route I had planned was clear enough.

The Thang
The Cousin Eddie DT route
About a year or two ago, I wanted to try a different route for the run club than the traditional riverwalk path to Ogden. The route:
Take Aurora Ave to West.
Take West to Rickert
Take Rickert to 75th St.
Turnaround
If you make it all the way to 75th St and back, it is a little over 4 miles.
I took off right away. I was surprised by how much traffic there ended up being on the route. Usually that early it’s not too bad. Because of the snow, we ran in the street as the sidewalks were not clear. Maybe that’s why I noticed the traffic more. At any rate. I almost made it to 75th St. before I turned back. Mellencamp, Iced Tea and Sadie were still running towards me so I told them to turn around. Shortly after that, I caught up to Radio Flyer and kept going back to the flag. YHC arrived at about 5:55am.
Mary
In the exicon, a stretching Mary after a run is called a Theresa. I immediately went into plank position and began stretching my calves by putting one leg over the other. Hold for 30 seconds on each leg. Next was a runner’s lunge stretch for both legs, holding for 30 seconds on each leg. At this point Mellencamp, Iced Tea and Sadie returned. I guided them in pigeon stretches for each leg. At exactly 6am, Radio Flyer returned.

Naked Man Moleskin
This past Sunday, my family had one of the worst shouting matches we’ve had in a long time. It was ridiculous. We all went to bed angry. YHC ended up sleeping on the couch for a couple hours until it was “safe” to sneak into bed.
The next morning, we all went about getting ready for school/work but I was able to talk to each of my kids one on one to clear the air. Later that morning, my M and I had a very long and productive talk about what happened and we realized that we were all stressed, bottling up our feelings and not communicating them. And there is the key. Communication. Make sure you are communicating with your family if something is bothering you. Talk to your kids. Talk to your M. Share your feelings, your fears and your dreams.
