Introduction
SCOTTISH HIGHLAND GAMES
Ever since my second week in F-3 in June Ive been thinking about bringing a proper Scottish highland games to a Q, My fall has been a crapstorm of personal strife that led me to push it off time and time again.
When Goldberg came up with F324 for Naperville, I jumped at the opportunity.
Dark Tower isnt the most ideal AO for a Highland Games due to topography and lack of a crossbar, but I “modified as needed”. After multiple trips to Menards the day before to get supplies, I was prepared.
I was ITG at 5:30AM to start unloading and set up. No joke . . . setting this up was almost a Post by itself. I really didnt think that through very well.
Carrying six 45 pound “big boy” coupons, 5 fire hoses, a sled and a 58 pound caber around the hill to a flat area was fun. I got to see Uncle Rico leading his BC ITG too . . .
Warm-O-Rama
Ya know what? Due to my dirtbag ex wife trying to break into the house KNOWING I would be at F324 made me late for warm o rama.
So what happened?
One of the best site Qs in the business stepped up and led a warm o rama as I sprinted around like an idiot finishing stringing out fire hoses.
TOWNIE . . . YOU DA MAN!!!

SCOTTISH HIGHLAND GAMES
Mosey with coupon to the base of Dark Tower hill.
Multiple stations. Feats of Strength Style!
Heavy Farmers Carry
- 180 pound farmers carry, 20 yards, turn and come back.
- Other PAX while waiting did sets of 10 coupon merkings, 10 rows, 10 shoulder press. Repeat
Heavy overhead coupon throw for distance.
- 45 pound coupon. Swing between your legs, then explosively throw it behind you for distance.
- Each PAX got up to 3 throws.
- WIAB was the winner
Caber toss for distance
- 58 pound caber (a piece of 4×6 lumber 12 feet long)
- Held upright (balance is key) you run 10 feet, then explosively throw the caber forward. It needs to flip over in the 12 o clock position for it to count.
- Each PAX got up to 2 throws.
- Blues Clues was the winner
- Other PAX did lunges and squats while waiting
“Highland runs”/ heavy sled pulls
- Pair up for a DORA.
- Partner 1 – Run with a sandbag up the hill and down the other side using the marked off sled path.
- Partner 2- 100 chest press, 100 big boys, 100 thrusters
- One partner team would be at the top of DT, pulling a 90 pound sled attached to two fire hoses up the hill. The damn sled exploded on the 5th PAX trying it.
Circle of Trust
CoT was to thank all the brothers of f-3 for attending f324, and especially this Q. I cant wait to do this again in the spring, but at a more forgiving topography AO. I wish everyone health and happiness. Everyone BE SAFE today!
And to finish, I brought a BalBlair 20 year old scotch for everyone to have a wee dram . . . .
Naked Man Moleskin
Besides my personal life drama screwing things up, I panicked when I had twice the amount of PAX than expected from the HCs. That threw off the timing, and I was not happy with the flow as a result. Lesson learned . . . and next year will be alternating stations to keep things moving better.
I also did not get to do two other exercises I had planned due to poor time management. Boo.
But over all I loved planning this. Highland games are a fun time, and I look forward to doing this again once I tighten up the planning.
Thank you to the PAX that attended. Truly.
