Salute to Shells and Cheese who gave us the heads up that the Ogden underpass was messed up (basically an uneven and dangerous ice rink)

The Thang

Run for distance and speed. Goal was to maximize distance and everyone’s 1 Mile split pace…all along the DuPage River Trail. 59 minutes of running…

Circle of Trust

I shared with the PAX a poem I wrote back in December of 2011…

The Mailman 1940

I watched him fill the coffee, each time the night before…

He’d wake ahead of the light, clean pressed for a full day’s chore…

I watched him day in and out, through rain, snow, and shine…

He’d return after the dark, full of dirt, sweat, and pride…

While he grew up poor and without study, his faith would have him consider…

He’d own his work as a privilege, and so the mailman would stand and deliver…

This poem is about my dad, who was a mailman, who was born in 1940 and while he didn’t have much, he still “delivered” no matter what. It was his duty.

The poem reminds me a lot about F3, ironically well before I even knew about F3.

I’m grateful to still have my dad around and wanted to share this with the PAX as it’s a reminder to pause and pay attention to the things that mean the most to you in life, especially as we head into such a memorable time of year during the holidays.

Stand and deliver.

Prayers.
