Woke up at 4:30…checked the weather and the radar. No rain had occurred overnight and the rain had been pushed out until 7 am…looked like we would not need to modify my planned workout. Pulled out of the driveway and saw flashing lights. Quickly realized there was lightning in the distance to the North, but no thunder nor lightning overhead. Arrived in the parking lot at 4:58. Ebenezer pulled in at the same time. Talked over the conditions…no rain, no thunder, all lightning was in the distance, plus IL is next to a baseball field that has the lightning detection system. Set up the workout and greeted the PAX.

Welcomed the PAX. Recited the mission statement, disclaimer and 5 core principles.

The Thang
Thang 1
Field of Dreams
Counted off by 4’s and divided into 4 groups. Each group went to a station marked off by a cone.
Station 1 – 20 Burpees
Station 2 – Air squats
Station 3 – Merkins
Station 4 – LBC’s
Stations 2, 3 and 4 did the exercise until the burpee station completed 20 burpees. Once the group at the burpee station completed 20 burpees, they yelled “rotate”. All stations bear crawled counter clockwise to the next station. Repeat until each group completed all 4 stations. We made it half way through the last rotation when the rain began to come down hard. I stopped Thang 1 and moved on to Thang 2 which was under the Pavilion.
Thang 2
Find a partner. It’s pouring, so no bear crawls…modify to jumping rope.
1st set – 1 partner abyss merkins, other partner jumps rope for 60 seconds. After 60 seconds the partners switch exercises. Repeat for set 2, 3 and 4, swapping abyss merkins for exercises noted below.
Set 2 – Alternating side squats
Set 3 – Merkins
Set 4 – Big boy situps
During this Thang the flags blew over twice…Daisy and Cousin Eddie each went to replant the flag.
Thang 3
Circle up. Each PAX chooses a card from a standard deck of cards. Do the number of reps on the card…Jack = Queen = King = 10 reps. Each suit has a different exercise as noted below. Completed one time around the circle.
Clubs = Curls (negatives) – start from the up position, count down slowly to 5, lower the coupon during the count from your chest to your quads.
Hearts – the ground was wet so modified from (American) Hammers to shoulder press
Spades – (Goblet) squats
Diamonds – modified from dark tower press to monkey humpers. We pulled many diamond cards, so one set was changed to diamond merkins.

Curl circle of fire. When not doing a curl, hold the coupon with your elbows at 90 degrees. Each PAX did 2 reps. Went around the circles one time.

When you start a task or activity, be present and give it your all. Work as if you have to earn your paycheck, respect of family/co-workers, etc. every day. Be present in every activity and try not to let your mind wander. I need to work on being present as my mind is very active and often wanders, especially during routine or tedious activities.
Naked Man Moleskin
Thanks to all the PAX that braved this crazy rain storm this morning. During the workout there was never any thunder or lightning, but the rain was coming down sideways for 15-20 minutes. Thanks to Daisy for having the 6. Special call out to Jah Jah Bings for suggesting monkey humpers on Thang 3 and to Ebenezer for his monkey calls each time we did them. Great mummblechatter and energy this morning from all the PAX.
