Introduction
BDRC at Dark Tower on 10/12 at 5:00 AM
I have 4 Q’s this month. All will have the same theme. At this workout…you guessed it…we will be running
Are you a man who is a warrior or are you a man who is a watcher?
This comes from a song by Casting Crowns called Courageous from the movie with the same title. Excerpt from the song in italics.
We were made to be courageous
We were made to lead the way
We could be the generation
That finally breaks the chainsWe were warriors on the front lines
Standing unafraid
But now we’re watchers on the sidelines
While our families slip awayWhere are you, men of courage?
You were made for so much more
Warm-O-Rama
1 mile run to intersection of Chicago and Columbia (90% pace)
The Thang
We will do a couple different road loops that incorporate some good hills. You will run with a partner for all loops focusing on good form and pushing your pace. We will do 10 counts once last group was in before starting next loop
Loop 1 – approx 1.5 miles
Start at Columbia/Chicago intersection
Run up the hill on Chicago to Charles
Go left on Charles.
Run down hill on Charles to North
Go left on North
Run up the hill on North to Columbia
Run Columbia until hit Chicago and stop
Loop 2 – approx 1 mile
Run on Columbia crossing over Chicago until you hit Prairie
Good downhill and uphill run
Go Right on Prairie then right on Sleight
Good downhill and uphill run on Sleight until you hit Chicago
Go right on Chicago and stop at Columbia
Repeat Loop 1
After completing Loop 1 the second time we met at Sleight and Chicago.
Final Loop
Run sleight to prairie and then turn around and run back up Sleight stopping at Chicago.
Finished with a 1 mile run back to Dark Tower
Covered 7 miles
Circle of Trust
Talked about how men that are warriors are resilient. We don’t let obstacles or struggles stop us. We use our resilience to overcome whatever hardships we face. This is what our families, communities and world needs now.
We said prayers to close
Naked Man Moleskin
I mapped out this route in my car a few days before. It seemed like it would be some of the better hill works on roads we could do in the area. Very pleased with all the loops and the challenges the hills presented. Men that attended gave positive feedback as well so plan on seeing this course at future BDRC’s.
