Introduction

First time ever at The Citadel. Had to scout out the morning before, and after several pin drops and directions from Tonka I found out where I would put the beatdown. It was going to be cold . . . and windy. Fun times.

I had high expectations for this Q, given how much smack talking Flo had been doing about the Citadel. But the HCs were few and far between . . . only a few brave souls that rarely miss a post were to be found on a cold November morning . . .

Broke two borrowed coupons setting up. Son of a . . . . .

I picked up this Q because Tonka attended one of my powerlifting Qs and asked me to take one to the Citadel. I was honored to be asked, and kept my eye on the Q sheet for an opportune time.

Marked off the stations with chalk, hoped for a good turnout and once 5:”15 hit . . .  it was time to bring the pain.

The Thang

“Catch your partner” DORA

Partner 1- Run the marked oval with a 25 pound sandbag.

Partner 2- Using a coupon, do the following exercises on the same course until Partner 1 catches up to them. Then switch until all 6 exercises are completed.

  • Walking Lunges
  • Shoulder Press
  • Heel to toe Farmers walk. Change hands every 10 steps
  • Curls
  • Squats (1 per step)
  • Heel to toe Rifle Carry

THANG 2

Friday the 13th . . .  so 13 powerlifting stations of pain. These are done AMRAP style, with one station being a sandbag run. The time for each station is limited by the runner. When there was no runner at that station, I hand timed it for 40 seconds.  Your coupon travels with you.

1- Offset Merkins

2- Power Rows (double coupon on a bar)

3- One hand penny pincher clean and overhead press. (5 per arm then switch)

4- Sandbag “sit down” squats. (sit all the way down on your coupon while holding a 25 pound sandbag in front of you)

5- Coupon Skull Crushers

6- Power Curls (50 pounds of sandbags on bar)

7- DT vertical coupon chest press

8- Single arm coupon rows

9- Power Shrugs (double coupon on bar)

10- Sandbag run

11- Single arm coupon chest press (switch every 10)

12- Straight arm lat pullovers

13- Power Cleans with sandbag

Circle of Trust

CoT. I was honored to be asked to bring one of my Qs to another AO. Tonka asked me to bring my powerlifting Q to the Citadel and I was happy to oblige. I was in a shitty mood due to family stress so this wasnt a very eloquent or well-planned CoT. Prayers for many PAX extended family members.

Naked Man Moleskin

My man Ebeneezer let me borrow some extra coupons for this Q. When unloading, two fell out of the back of my car and shattered. One of those was the painted coupon of ebeneezer. This already put me in a shittier mood.

 

Then my damn phone died right when starting music. So we had to listen to the smooth jazz styling that Tonka was able to provide. This did not improve my mood.

The FIB bailed on the workout. Flo was nowhere to be found.

I am now convinced that the Citadel is unlucky for me and I shall never return. Screw you unlucky Citadel!!!

Augustus Gloop- THANK YOU for coming out! Definitely a trek for a DT regular, and huge props for knowing what kind of workout you were in for, and doing it anyways.
