The Thang

Coupon mosey to where the circle track meets the path which leads to the bridge. From there we started.

  • Coupon Indian run to the bridge (probably 1/3 of a mile)
  • 30 overhead press/20 carolina dry docs/15 overhead press/15carolina dry docs. Then Cusack carry all the way to top of the bridge and back down
  • Indian run to starting point and back to bridge (probably 2/3 of a mile)
  • Partner up – one partner farmer carry up the bridge while the other does bear crawl. Person doing farmer carry goes as long as they can and then switch. Do that from one side of the bridge to the other and all the way back again to where we started.
  • Indian run to starting point and back to bridge (probably 2/3 of a mile)
  • 30 goblet squats/15 bobby hurleys/15 goblet squats/15 bobby hurleys. Run with coupon to top of bridge and back down.
  • cusack carry to top of bridge and back down
  • Repeat that cusack carry again
  • Indian run with coupons back to the flags

Circle of Trust

Message was short and sweet for the most part – all about getting back to the original purpose of a BD. Black Diamonds are meant to include a good mix of cardio and strength. When I first started joining them you were told to expect to cover 2-4 miles during the workout. I wanted to bring it back to that. The cardio is the equalizer. I believe that is the next level that people should be striving for when attending Black Diamonds.  That doesn’t mean you need to be at that level to join. Not at all. We have so many stories of guys that came to BD’s and puked, fell out, or just wanted to die. Point is to come and try and keep coming. A BD should be intense and very difficult with little to no rest, but it is not just for people that can handle that today. It is for people that want to get to that level and need the BD to get there.  You can be a good runner but when strength is introduced with running it’s a killer and can humble the runners. You can be very strong but when running or cardio in general is introduced it’s a killer and can humble the strength people. A good level of fitness requires both strength and cardio. If you want to maximize your potential, come to BD’s and push yourself. You will get better and better and maybe someday be at the front of the pack. And then when you’re at the front of the pack, someone else will be chasing you to take your crown. You’re never complete.
