The Thang
Thang #1 L.U.G.E.
PAX lined up at base of hill. There were lit 4 cones from bottom to top of hill.
- Dry Run
- L – 10 Lunges each leg
- U – 10 Updowns on Q’s call
- G – 10 Gas Pumps
- E – Everest (Modified) – From first cone at base of hill, run up to 2nd cone, 5 merkins, run uphill to 3rd cone, 5 merkins, run uphill to 4th and final cone at the top, 5 merkins
- Official L.U.G.E. Event!
- Repeat above with “E” being the race portion. First PAX to the top wins the Gold. First country to the top wins the Gold.
- L.U.G.E. Gold Medal Winners
- Individual – Goldberg (China)
- Country – Sudan
- L.U.G.E. Gold Medal Winners
- Repeat above with “E” being the race portion. First PAX to the top wins the Gold. First country to the top wins the Gold.
Thang #2 Skeleton
PAX split into their countries of choice, China vs. Sudan with 3 PAX representing each country. This is a 3 heat race between two PAX, one from each team from the bottom of the hill to the very top and then sled back down. The first PAX to touch the cone at the top of the hill and pass the cone on the bottom of the hill on their sled, wins the heat.
- Heat 1 – Goldberg (China) vs. Nacho Libre (Sudan) – Winner = Goldberg! (China)
- Nacho took a nasty 8 spinning tumble wipe out into final cone. No blood, no guts, no glory. Goldberg was a straight missile and by observational science, took the individual gold right out of the gate!
- Heat 2 – Sully (China) vs. Doback (Sudan) – Winner = Sully! (China)
- Doback also took about a 6 spinner wipe out, bulldozed a cone on the way down too. Sully’s familiarity with his own sled and lengthy frame led to his aerodynamic victory.
- Heat 3 – Cousin Eddie (China) vs. Blues Clues (Sudan) – Winner = Blues Clues! (Sudan)
- Cousin Eddie was playing hurt and all the fans were pulling for him as he gutted thru this one. However Blues Clues toboggan style sled skills slingshot’d him down the hill in blazing speed for the win.

Circle of Trust
We all know the Olympics happen once every 4 years. Growing up there was always something special about the Olympics to me. It was always on in my house and things that I normally had no interest in, I had tons of interest in…like figure skating.
It was and is the competitiveness of the experience. Athletes representing their country. One country vs. another country, etc on the biggest stage in the world.
These athletes put a ton of work into giving their best, their very best just once every 4 years.
It just made me think…
I was sitting with my daughter who is 4 years old and my girlfriend who has a son that’s 7 years old at the dinner table during the start of this years Olympics the other day. I said to them…“you know the next time we see the Winter Olympics will be in 4 years. You, you’ll be 8, and you, you’ll be 11. Think of how much can and will change in your life during that time?”
So I leave all of us with that thought today gentlemen. Where will you be in 4 years? Your 2.0’s, your M, etc? What will you do with this next 4 years and/or time itself?
Thanks for coming out today and competing today. Now go make the most of your day and most importantly, be your best, when your best is required.
Prayers.

That sled hill at Iron Lion has some smoke on it today! Seriously, you had to see “Gold Medal” Goldberg traveling at about Mach 1 speed down that hill in the dark. Dude was flyin!
