Circle of Trust

I’ve recently been reading a book called Touchpoints.  A touchpoint is when you turn an ordinary interaction into an influential one.  Let me give you an example.  Someone that works for you or a teammate doesn’t hit the mark on an assignment.  You have a decision to make.  Do I give them the riot act and tear them down or do I tell them that I know that they can do better and coach them up?  Which do you think is going to have a longer lasting positive impact on that person or your relationship with that individual?  Also which is more difficult?  In general, creating touchpoints requires  more thoughtfulness and effort, but becomes easier the more you practice this concept.

I think this topic fits well with the goal of F3 which is to advance male leadership in our community.  In any given day we have the opportunity to interact with 10s to 100s of different people.  What lasting impression do we leave with the people that we interact with?  Did we positively or negatively touch their mind, body, and soul?  I can tell you that I am far from perfect at this.  Hence why I’m reading the book and trying to apply these principles.

The book then goes into how we can maximize that ratio of positive to negative interactions with people which I plan on talking about in future COTs.  My challenge to you today is to consciously think about these positive and negative interactions and to calculate what your ratio is at the end of the day.  Going forward strive to increase that ratio over the course of each week, month, or year.  Not only will you touch the people you are directly interacting with but this will then influence these same people to act in a similar way which creates an exponential affect in our communities.

Prayer request for Penalty Box’s wife’s Aunt who has stage 4 cancer and to watch over all those impacted by the wild fires out west.

Thangs – I think everyone got through one rotation of the Thang 1 and several made it halfway through a second rotation.  Really good push by everyone.  I had originally planned to do coupon runs again on the Thang 2 but transitioned this to the coupon walk.  Not sure that was any better since my shoulders were smoked after doing the blockees.

Other random observations:

  • Second city borrowed one of my Badger coupons and did me proud carrying that thing like a beast during the coupon run.  Great job!
  • Foundation took a bit of a spill but was able to push through.  I hope he has a speedy recovery.
  • I overheard a rumor that someone may have spilled merlot.  No call outs here.  Obviously they were pushing themselves.
  • Joe Dirt was hurting during the coupon runs, but killed it on the 11’s.  Awesome push brother!
  • Great to see Skid Mark back in the gloom!
  • Darude Sandstorm came on and Beatbox lost his mind 🙂

Thanks to Den Mother for having my 6 and Sheldon/Beatbox for coffeeteria!!!
