Circle of Trust

This weekend of June 26th, 2020 marks the usual annual home town festival in Wauconda, IL known as Wauconda Fest. My hometown! I haven’t been in a while but I think back to all the good times I had back then.

It was always a great time to catch up with old buddies. Maybe you run into some other friends or even ex girlfriends or something. Either way, nobody wore sleeves, late 80’s hair band music would fill the air, and tons of people we all knew came together, drinking, laughing, and having fun. This was where I grew up.

And growing up in Wauconda we always put a chip on our shoulder. We always felt we had less things than other cities or towns around. So our mentality, right or wrong, became to out work and prove other people wrong. We were a motley crew and it’s fun to think of all the trouble and good times we had.

At the same time, that’s just it…we were indeed all very much the same.

We all had that same mentality, all went to the same classes and played on the same sports teams.

We all looked pretty much looked the same, dressed the same, talked the same.

We even dated some of the same girls too!

But look at what we learned this morning at F3 at this AO. How different each of us are. How we had 10 men show up to workout today who grew up from the South and West sides of Chicago…to towns in Lithuania or in Singapore…or back here to Lisle, Midlothian, Prospect Heights, Naperville, Wheaton and even down to Kentucky…thanks Flush.

We learned we’re not all the same. We learned we are all very different. And while it’s great to think about how growing up was a lot of the same…it’s those different places we’ve been, those uncomfortable situations, where we learn and grow the most.

And here we are…10 HIM’s ITG who all have a hometown story that is very much the same in some ways, different in others yet again, here we are all kneeling down in a circle together. As one.

That’s what it’s all about.

Thanks for coming out gentlemen. (Ended in short prayer)

There’s nothing wrong with being the same as long as you work to see the difference too…
