Introduction

It was chilly and dark when we started.  Backdraft pulled into the parking lot with me right around 5AM and Cousin Eddie arrived just a few minutes after.  I had everything I needed, but @Cousin Eddie being the great site Q that he is, had a speaker, music, and an F3 deck just in case we needed it.  I moved over to a bright light near our usual meeting place so we could have a new perspective and a light to see the cards and the thangs.  The rest of the PAX pulled into the parking lot and we started promptly at 5:15.

The goal of the workout today was to have some fun, listen to some tunes, and start the Saturday off right.  I know many guys like to double tap on Saturday and after a long week and being sore, I made this about getting the body moving and not trying to make anyone’s arms fall off.  I think this was successful.

Warm-O-Rama

We did motivators from 7, Tappy Taps, Imperial Walkers (in cadence), some arms circles, one lap mosey, and a slurpee (slow burpee to really stretch everything out)

The Thang

After the warm-o-rama we moved over to a spot near the band shell and the parking lot.  It gave nice light and had an area to be on grass or a sidewalk for the thangs.  YHC created a list of 28 exercises (we completed 25) and each exercise had a multiplier.  Around the circle we would have one PAX come up, grab an exercise slip and a playing card.  The group would then do the number of alloted exercises and move on to the next person.  Some were together, some were OYO, but we all stayed together on the exercises.  Lots of togetherness today.

Example: Chest Press X3.  KING.  This would mean the group would do 30 Chest Press.

We did this basically the entire time.  Stopped about halfway through and did a mosey through the parking lot, just to keep the body moving.  Some of Mary was incorporated into this, so we pushed up until almost 6:00AM.

Circle of Trust

Talked today about the meaning of the word “PRIDE”.  It has 2 meanings and both are very fitting for the Iron Lion.  You can have “pride” in yourself, and “pride” is the name of a pack of Lions.  The Lisle High School that we could see has a “One Pride” sign on it.  Talked about how YHC has plateaued a bit and the group has really been strong to help me and keep me going.  Also talked about how we can use ourselves to pick up others when they are going through a rough patch.

Homework for the day was to be proud of getting up early and working out, and to find a way to make your personal “pride” stronger.  How can you pick up your family, friends, regular workout buddies, whatever.

Be proud of your accomplishments and remember those that have helped you along the way.

Naked Man Moleskin

It had been a few weeks since I Q-ed and seeing the EIL open on this Saturday was a great opportunity to get back into the swing of things.  I was afraid of overdoing it myself this week, but I wanted those that came out to get something good out of this.  We don’t get up for easy! I have to say though, this morning to me went perfectly.  We had some good music, fun mumblechatter, and the sunrise was amazing!  Cousin Eddie captured a few nice pictures of the sunrise and I believe it was Mellencamp that called it out at around 5:45AM.  The sky was glowing orange, it was pretty special and really made getting up this early on a Saturday worth it.

Big shout out to everyone that joined me today.  I was afraid we’d have some low numbers with so many cool things going on today, but me and 6 others was great!

Cousin Eddie – my site Q today.  Really went above and beyond with the videos and pictures today.  He also made sure I had music and offered to bring his speaker and playlists.  I asked him to bring his F3 cards today too.  I didn’t use them, but it was so nice knowing they were there if needed.  Thanks for offering to share!

Backdraft – we’re been EIL buddies lately.  I like seeing you man.  I hope I brought enough weight for you today.  I know you can bring it and you always do.

Mellencamp – it was a great surprise seeing you this AM.  Thanks for coming out early and supporting me, even though Friday you said you wouldn’t.  You da man and I appreciate it!

Aladdin – I can’t remember the exercise or the count, but I think it was something like 50 burpees you called out.  I just about crapped my pants thinking I messed something up.  Great joke man and that was exactly the vibe I was going for today.  I knew I wasn’t so crazy to make anything THAT tough, but you tricked me in the moment and then corrected quickly.  Good one!  HAHA.

Sam Walton was perfect on his side straddle hops cadence today.  I believe that obstacle has been passed.

Mia Hamm, like his Tesla, he is quiet, but always performing.  He brought a nice burner earlier in the week to the Iron Lion and really set the tone for why I needed to go a little on the lighter end today.  Great having you out there today.  Also, anyone who can rep the Illini with me is great in my book.
