Introduction
It had been a minute since YHC Q’d a early OP beatdown. It may have been when we had to use the library parking lot when we were first getting back from lock down. Had an idea for weight training and cardio, but didn’t have a full plan in place. Threw in the preblast to bring a coupon, running shoe and weighted vest. Since there was no official plan this would at least cover my bases.
Well all of a sudden the HC’s started rolling in. Shandy called out 1/2 of Naperville and 1/3 of Aurora early on and the feed started going off. Snart made up some drinking excuse, so YHC joined him in the party. This did not go well with trying to ensure a plan was in place.
So at 11:23pm a plan was on paper. Mainly so it wouldn’t be forgotten. Off to sleep.
Woke up checked Slack and there were 50 some odd messages. Impossible to figure out who was coming or going so the crew will be the crew.
Arrived at the AO in 40ish degree weather, staked out if there was a cut through to the path for the bridge and couldn’t find it in the darkness of night, so the long way will be the way…

The Thang
Thang 1 – Dark Path
Transition coupon mosey to the bridge. We mosey’d by the playground onto the path making our way towards the bridge. Man it is dark by here, so YHC stayed close to a couple of PAX in case there was a coyote. Being in the middle YHC would be eaten last, so this ensured the beatdown would go on.
Stopped around the outfield fence of the first ball diamond and circled up. All PAX Cusak held coupons while we did a overhead press ring of fire for 5 reps going counterclockwise. PAX were instructed to leave the coupons here in the grass off the path. Mosey’d to the bridge.
Thang 2 – Good Morning Naperville
On a Virtuosity post recently Backdraft introduced us to Smurf Jack Motivators. They sucked and were painful so figured it would be a good thing to do with this crew. While we were on the bridge we performed Smurf Jack Motivators from 5.
PAX were lined up on both sides of the bridge facing each other. Boxcutter knew what was next…GOOD MORNING NAPERVILLE-Monkey Humpers IC to 20. Not too many cars passed so we went for a second round as headlights approached us in both directions.
Mosey back to the coupons.
Thang 3 – On Mes/Sprints
Not enough time for the originally planned Thang 3. So we improvised. First up on mes. PAX were instructed to follow up/down calls. First curls, then jump squats and finally Merkins.
Next grouped PAX in 3s and we did 2 rounds of sprints. On the path we raced from the the outfield post to the first light post. Roughly 75-100ish yards +/- something. When you weren’t racing the racing group gave you a lift to do with the coupons.
Thang 4 – Battan Death March Coupon Mosey
Only way to get back to the flags Battan Death March Coupon Mosey-Back guy is instructed to do 1 Blockee then runs to the front of the mosey line. However, Shandy asks why we don’t do 2 and without a good excuse we move it to 2 blockees for the back guy. Lines somewhat fell apart at the end so YHC had the front power walk the final 1/4 of the way to ensure everyone was able to do 2 blockees. Shandy suggested something else and like a good looking woman at a bar YHC completed ignored it.

I began my F3 journey in February right around Valentines Day. Weeks before F3 Naperville lost a brother in Noonan. Therefore, i never met him but have heard some great stories. To most when they hear him name they see his face, maybe picture him with his M and 2.0s but for sure they see him with his dog. For me I see the silhouette on the shirt that many of you wear. On that shirt is a saying “It’s always a race”. There are countless times I have said that saying to myself both in and out of the gloom. Even though I never met you Noonan thank you for helping me to continue to push for acceleration.
Today we kick off a week of celebration. 3 years we have called the gloom of Naperville home. Each one of us has played a part in our beginning. Just like the man I never met, Noonan, did for me; each one of us will leave an impact on each other and most importantly our wonderful communities. Happy 3 years MOFOs!
