Introduction

Rolled into The Wood at 6:30am on a cool, 57 degree morning and not a bit of gloom to be found because of the 7:00am start. A group of teenagers were on Mt. PiWood, watching the sunset and wondering what the heck I was doing setting cones on the hill. They left pretty quickly because they didn’t want any part of this workout. Headed to the parking lot, planted the shovel and waited for the PAX to roll in. Tommy Tank Top and Sosa arrived first, fresh off their workout at early OP. Sounds like Bozo had them doing a bit of running…oh well, they weren’t going to get a break from it at The Wood. A couple FNG’s and some other relatively new PAX arrived—lots of newbies down south. Lastly comes Pi at 6:58 (nobody was surprised). Time to tee off!

Circle of Trust

I think it is important for a CoT to be thoughtful, and for me it is thoughtful to be thankful. Today I want to share two things I am thankful for. First, I am thankful for everybody’s efforts to launch The Wood and to keep growing the region. My parents live in Shorewood and I have been aware of this park for many, many years. This was also the location of my first (well, unofficial B3 ) Q. I was very excited to Q the first week of The Wood being an official AO.

Second, I am thankful for my wife. It is her birthday tomorrow and I am thankful that after struggling with personal issues for many, many years, she seems to be in a good place. It was a tough few years for us because of these struggles, and I am looking forward to celebrating her birthday tomorrow and celebrating the general happiness of our entire family.

Everybody has challenges and everybody struggles. My struggles aren’t worse than yours, and yours aren’t worse than mine—it isn’t about degrees. All of our struggles are real. I challenge each of us to look at our challenges and find something to be thankful for in the middle of each dark situation. What does not kill us makes us stronger. Like burpees and bear crawls…

Naked Man Moleskin

Not a lot of mumble chatter today…but LOTS of gassed PAX. Pi somehow found plenty of time to take a couple hundred pictures…interesting…

Mt. PiWood is no joke.

Following that hill with Lt. Dan’s is no joke either.

Love it.
