Introduction
PRE BLAST: IRON LION: Wednesday, November 3, 2021 5:15AM
Is the triangle equilateral, right or obtuse? Let’s find out together. No Coupons needed for this adventure. HC in the thread.
The Scene: Clear and Cold. As I was getting ready to leave the house, I checked Slack and saw a late HC from Mellencamp and an early HC from Bob Ross. Since BR was coming all the way out to Lisle, I changed up my playlist to Motown Classics instead of the Heavy Metal fair I originally had in store for the PAX. YHC arrived just after 5. Riunite had the flags up so I left mine in the car and ran out to the field to set up 3 cones.
Welcome & Disclaimer given
In cadence (IC) is the rhythm in between each rep or the body movement between each rep.
Warm-O-Rama
SSH – IC (4 count) x 30
Capri Lap around the parking lot – butt kickers, high knees, Super Marios (skip for height), Links (skip for distance)
Mosey over to the cones in the field behind the trees.
When we arrived at the cones, I realized I had left the speaker by the flags. I hurriedly gave direction and sprinted back.
The Thang
THANG 1 B.L.I.M.P.muda Triangle
3 cones. There were 12 of us so easy math placed 4 men at each cone.
Starting cone:
5 Burpees
10 Lunges each leg is 1
15 Imperial Walkers (IC – 4 count)
20 Merkins
25 Plank Jacks
Bear crawl to next cone:
Double the reps (start with 10 and then increase by 10)
10 Burpees
20 Lunges each leg is 1
30 Imperial Walkers (IC – 4 count)
40 Merkins
50 Plank Jacks
Crab walk to next cone:
Triple the reps (start with 15 and then increase by 15)
15 Burpees
30 Lunges each leg is 1
45 Imperial Walkers (IC – 4 count)
60 Merkins
75 Plank Jacks
Broad jump back to start
Hold People’s Chair for the six. I had to educate Mellencamp on the difference between People’s Chair and Al Gore.
THANG 2 Burp & Merk
Another form of a triangle is a pyramid.
Begin a traditional burpee with a single push up at the bottom, then complete. Drop back down for a second burpee with two push ups, then complete. Pyramid up to 10, pyramid all the way back down to one.
Many groans from Bootlegger as well as complaints about the music from Speaker City were said during this time.
When finished, we grabbed the cones and moseyed back to the flags for Mary.
Mary
Bruce Lee – IC (4 count) x 20
Crunchy Frogs, 100’s, LBC’s, Heel touches, Leg lifts, American Hammers
We actually finished the routine. Took about 8 minutes, I think.
We ended with 10 Triangle Taps but in a slow cadence to get more of a stretch.

Naked Man Moleskin
If…. by Rudyard Kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;
If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings — nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And which is more: you’ll be a Man, my son!
I think it was almost a year ago when Poutine read this poem after one of his Q’s at the Complex. It’s funny because I came across this poem yesterday as I was trying to find some inspirational leadership to share.
The takeaways from this poem are relatively simple: patience and cooperation. Have patience and stay the course when things don’t go to plan. Invite input from your team and adapt when necessary. You can apply this to all the teams in your life. Don’t forget that your family is your team at home.
Peace,
Cousin Eddie
