Introduction

School’s back in session, and we are going to have a full body beat down that will involve moving with coupons as if they were your backpack and we’ll also see if we have the chops to graduate all 12 grades again.  Bring your coupons, gloves, and shoes for grass for this action.  This classroom will be lifting and moving together.  HC in the thread below and get right for the school year.

Got there a little early to set up, thanks to Snoop-a-Loop pro siteQ he bailed me out with some lighted cones (who knew you’d need lighted cones for the dark huh) and he was there early to help set up, I managed to avoid “most” water sprinklers as I set up (did get smoked by one out of nowhere though) – sprinklers caused a little bit of a modification.  Speaking of modification, had to relocate flags to adjacent parking lot since there was some parking lot repavement ongoing at the usual flags location, and again Snoop answering the bell helping get us all set up properly at temp location.  Cones set down, instructions written down, PAX started rolling in.  5:15 – 5 core principles, mission, credo, and disclaimer all provided.  Feel Good Friday Back To School edition was ready to kick off.

picked up coupons, and moseyed over to field next to parking lot to do Thang 1

The Thang

Thang 1 – Pearls on a string

Involved carrying coupons with us the entire Thang (except during one exercise),  doing pearls on a string but carrying coupons to each station.

Thang 2 – Billy Madison

going to see if we can graduate high school – this is a form of the Billy Madison since we’ll be going back through all 12 grades

Ladder workout of 5 reps of each exercise adding 1 exercise each grade (each additional exercise written out on ground) – each end represents one grade, run back to other end once done to move on to next grade.  If you have this done by 5:52 you get to “graduate” and walk across the stage by taking a lap around the skate park.

1st grade = Big boys

2nd grade = 1st grade + Air squats

3rd grade = 2nd grade + Alternating shoulder taps (1/2 each arm)

4th grade = 3rd grade + American hammers (1/2 each side)

5th grade = 4th grade + the merkin

6th grade = 5th grade + side straddle hops

7th grade = 6th grade + Bobby Hurley’s

8th grade = 7th grade + plank jacks

9th grade = 8th grade + Bonnie blairs (1/2 each leg)

10th grade = 9th grade + mountain climbers (1/2 each leg)

11th grade = 10th grade + derkins feet on fence

12th grade = 11th grade + burpees

everyone successfully graduated all 12 grades and got to “walk across stage” by running a lap around the skate park.

Thang 3 – elude the hall monitors

Back from spot where Billy Madison was finished did an army crawl ~25 yards, then sprint ~25 yards.  Repeated this again, and then headed back to the flags for the Mary.

Little bit of a history lesson – Importance of focus

One story to emphasize: Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are 2 individuals very very successful within their respective industries – when they first met a while back they were asked to write one word down that helped account for their success and then show it to each other, they both wrote down the same word – FOCUS.

I wanted to stress this because as we all head back into busier schedules with school starting back up, activities starting back up, maybe work getting a little busier with everyone back from summer vaca, while there may be increased chances that we start to get pulled into different directions and demands for our time increase, I want to emphasize the importance of not letting things add up because you are trying to do a little bit of a lot of things and can’t really do them as well as needed, but to instead attack each individual item with focus as best as possible and give it its proper attention to get it done or resolved as best as you can and then move on to the next item.  This can help avoid the stress of things building up and allows you to be more efficient and purposeful in the moment that you are in.  The biggest benefit here is that this will allow us to get that more quality nature of time when we do spend it with family, friends, and faith – not having to worry about those lingering items.

Prayer requests for kids going back to school and my sister dealing with a knee issue.

Lord we thank you for this day and this morning out here with these men as they go out into their days today and this weekend.  Please watch over kids and families as the school season kicks back off.  Give strength and peace to those who may be experiencing any stressful situations as well.  Lord, in your name we pray. Amen.

This was my third go around as Q, most amount of pre-workout setup adjustments needed to date, but got the deed done.  Love the adrenaline rush of a Q.  Energy from the PAX was solid today during workout and coffeeteria – great group if HIMs out there.  Strong momentum heading into the weekend.

On back of this Q will now try to start getting a little more exposure to a few other AO’s here and there so I can get prepped to run a Q at another AO.
