Circle of Trust

As I was reading  about the Russian Ukrainian situation, it dawned on me that for most of us this is the first time 2 Western European countries are potentially going to war (I’m not counting the breakup of former Yugoslavia simply because it was so localized and their were no nuclear capabilities) in our life time. However, our parents, grandparents, and every generation going back roughly 1,000 years has dealt with this type of war or potential war. It made me feel very blessed that this is no longer the norm. We live in an age that is safer and better than anytime prior. Warren Buffett once recalled a story about  how the year he was born, John D. Rockefeller was the richest man in the world. He then reminded everyone that the poorest American today has a much better life than Rockefeller ever had even at his richest. The least fortunate among us has access to cleaner water and food, infinitely better medicine, transportation, entertainment, access to education, etc. than at any point in history. As we deal with fear, especially of the unknown, let’s remind ourselves of just how great life is and appreciate all that we have. Sucks that I have to see a war breakout to realize it. I’ll do better.
