Introduction

Was pretty excited to Q at the Ridge because I knew it would be a big crowd and these guys haven’t seen the bridge in awhile. It was time for a tour of the Ridge…but it didn’t work out as planned!

Arrived early, early, early to get some lights set up around the AO. Crisp 29 degrees with no wind. Wasn’t so bad, even Joe Dirt decided it was warm enough to attend. Back at the flags met a late-addition FNG…hope he like bear crawls.

Welcome…core principles…COVID reminder…disclaimer. Away we go…

Warm-O-Rama

Good mornings (10)

Goofballs (10)

Hillbilly’s (10)

Arm Circles (10/10)

Then added 20 Smurf Jacks because Gopher was chattering so much during warm-ups that I could barely hear my cadence.

Counted off into 4 groups and started the first thing.

The Thang

THANG #1: Pearls on a String

Indian Run .25 miles to stop #1. Side bear crawl 30-40 yards, do 20 merkins and 20 big boys, side bear crawl back. Wait for the 6.

Indian Run .25 miles to stop #2 (bridge). Bear crawl across bridge, do 20 merkins and 20 big boys, bear crawl back.

Indian Run .30 miles to third stop. Burpee bears for 30 yards, do 20 merkins and 20 big boys, Burpee bear back.
Mosey to front of hill.

THANG #2: “FORE!”

All PAX hold in “bear plank” position. When I yell, “Fore!” all PAX sprint uphill to first cone, do 10 merkins and 10 BB and jog back to base of hill. Resume “Bear plank” position until all PAX return and I yell, “Fore!” again. Then sprint uphill to next cone…merkins, big boys, back down. Repeat the ladder all the way up the hill (5 sprints total).

6MOM at top of hill

Hammers (25)

Freddy Mercury’s (25)

Swimmers (25)

Hold Bear plank 0:30 until 6:00pm.

Circle of Trust

I believe a CoT should be thoughtful, and I believe it is thoughtful to be thankful—so I like to share what I am thankful for during my CoT’s. Today, I am in a pretty good place. Happy wife, happy kids, good job, good health. I am incredibly thankful for each of those things, especially during these trying times. I recognize the effect others have had on me—that the good things in my life are due to the positive effects others people have on me. Please, please, please, pay attention to your effects. At every moment we are having an effect on something or someone. We have the power to make somebody laugh, we have the power to make somebody cry—and we are responsible for the effects we have on others whether intentional or unintentional. Strive to have positive effects. The world needs it now more than ever. I am sincerely thankful for everybody who had—and continues to have—a positive effect upon me.

Naked Man Moleskin

Well today was a bit of a disaster. The group was too big for the workout I had designed, and in hindsight I wish I had adjusted. Indian runs were a bad idea…even though I prefaced it by asking people to keep their distance, it was impossible with so many PAX. What a jumbled mess. And the bridge was too icy, so we had to modify there. Oh well. Definitely wished I had broken into two groups and let Den Mother lead one—it would have been much, much better for this workout.

Pretty weak mumble chatter today. Heard the predictable, “I thought run club was yesterday,” but that was about all. Two thumbs down. The FNG almost puked, so I guess we did something right!
