My message today was about CHASING THE PAIN.

When we work out or are dealing with any difficult (painful) situation, our brains tell us to avoid the pain… or said another way… run from the pain.  This approach might seem logical and it might make us feel better (in the short term), but are we getting better?  I don’t think so….

But if we embrace the pain… If we make the decision that we will not let the pain limit our potential… We take the “top” off of our limits…. We should never let anyone – especially the person in the mirror – tell us that we cannot, or should not, do something because it will be hard – or painful.  We need to CHASE THE PAIN….

Chase it down….

Conquer it….

Then keep going!!

Because the reality is that there will always be pain in our lives….

One of my “pain points” is running… I don’t like it… I’m not good at it… But I am going to chase it… And I ask you, my brothers, to push me.  Not just with running, but everything.

Let’s Pray…

We prayed for Carmen San Diego’s mother, Valerie, as she battles life.  We prayed for my friends, the Martin Family, as they deal with the loss of their 15 year old son, Matthew, this past Monday.  We thanked God for all of the blessings in our lives and for the trials and disappointments too.  Because all of these things are opportunities for us to deepen our relationship with our God.

We prayed for all these things in God’s Holy Name…. Amen!

Naked Man Moleskin

So right after we ended the CoT, Ball Boy looks me in the eye and says, “Do you want to run a couple miles right now?”  If you know me at all, you know that my brain was screaming at me… “NO!!  JUST SAY NO!! MAKE UP ANY EXCUSE YOU NEED TO, BUT JUST SAY NO!!”  But that would not be holding true to my message of Chase the Pain….

So I offer a special thank you to Ball Boy for pushing me today.  Thank you for running with me!  I can’t honestly say that I enjoyed it, but I do look forward to running with you again!

Until next time.

Rusty… Out!!
