Introduction

It is my honor to Q the couples workout for this year’s F3-24. What an awesome event, and what a great way to break out M’s into our crazy world. The weather was great. The scene was perfect. My M and I got to the AO about 20 minutes early and we walked around to try and find a good spot where we could do dips and step ups… two of the exercises included in the partner DORA. We found a spot right up front by the centennial beach entrance gate. Cones were set up, white board was set up.

Circled up, 5 core principals recited, disclaimer given, and we are ready to rock!

CoT:

If you remember from our last Thang before Mary … my M (Kristina) and I have been married for just under 10 years. Clearly we don’t have as many years as many of you here, but we have had 10 very successful years and for that I am forever thankful. Sometimes people will ask me what keeps us going. What works for us. How do we stay so strong. And I tell them that we had a lot of communication and open dialogue before we got married. On our wedding day, we came to an agreement. I am the man of the house. I take the responsibility of caring for my family very seriously. Because of this, I would make all the major decisions in our life. My wife would make all the smaller yet equally as important decisions. I can tell you with full confidence that this has been amazing and has worked for us since day 1. Now … I am still waiting for one of those major decisions to come around, but otherwise, we are very happy!

(got some great laughs on that one … sorry to all the PAX who got a little nervous about where I was going with that story!!)

In all seriousness though – many of you may have noticed that we refer to you as our “M’s” … what does that even mean? We often talk about leadership skills and some of the desirable leadership qualities that many of us are openly working towards. In talking about how to become a better leader, person, husband, father, son, etc … we often refer to our ‘concentrica’. This is what we refer to as our circle of influence. Things we can IMPACT. There is family, friends, work, etc. Right in the middle though. The bullseye, if you will, is our M. M is the “Most Important Relationship” … and for all of us here, that M is you. Our worlds cannot function properly if we are not giving the appropriate care to this relationship. All other relationships and things in our lives will crumble if this is not given the appropriate amount of attention.

I believe I share the same thoughts / beliefs here as many of the men here today in that we thank you. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the daily sacrifices you make. Whether it be caring for the kids (or 2.0’s) in the morning while we are out, or the stress of maintaining the household early every day. All for us to be able to have this release valve … this adult recess really. This thing called F3. We are physically out here in the gloom every morning during the week putting in the work. But what you are doing back at home, for the most part, is just as challenging, and more importantly, it allows us to be here. Thank you. We love you.

Let’s pray.

Again, what an honor to be a part of this amazing Q line up for the second annual F3-24. I have Q’d somewhere around 30-40 times but this was the first time where M’s were involved. I was definitely a little nervous at how things would be received. Trying to write-up this workout, I waffled back and forth on how ‘difficult’ to make it. Coupons, no coupons? I almost went out and bought 40 paver bricks but punted on that idea. Running? My M HATES running and I am sure others do to … so I wanted to try and minimize that. Ultimate I gave an alternative to running. Funny thing is, not many people used the alternative. Even my M ran the whole time on the DORA’s. We got about a mile in total, so not bad at all!

Shoutout to the Naperville 6 who completed all 24 hours. This could have easily been a workout that they passed on, but they stuck around. Some of them even partnered up with each other which led to some funny moments. Thanks for playing along men!

The highlight of the Q, to me, was at the very end when we found out how long couples had been together. 36 years! 36 YEARS for Munson and his M (named Edward Scissor Hands!). How great was that watching him show off and be so proud to share? That…gents… is GOALS.

Thanks to all who came out.
