I’ve read recently about so many circumstances in which the selfish actions of a few have a terrible impact on many.
I’ve watched people get sick because others thought they themselves wouldn’t. People lose jobs because others take credit.
This has always been the case for human kind. We naturally look to put ourselves above others, and the struggle to put others first is the highest calling we have. It’s why the Bible says the greatest way to love someone is to lay down your life for them. It’s this act of self sacrifice that brings even the hardest of hearts to pause and respect when they witness it.
We need more of this sacrifice today. We get a tiny glimpse of it most mornings when someone here chooses to pick up six. They’re working a little harder to help someone else. But we’ve got to go further. Give more. Help more. Seek the opportunity to genuinely put yourself behind others and bite your tongue. Even if no one sees your sacrifice, our SkyQ does. It’s not that hard to do: just tap into that same inner strength we use when digging deep for one more merkin.
We’ll find that the more we put others first the more like becomes abundant.
