Introduction
For my four year manniversary, I recreated the beat down from my first post in Louisville, KY on May 29, 2019 at the Mutt. Old Bay Q’d it, and he happens to be from Naperville. Quite the coincidence. Van Halen’s album 5051 blasted from the Sonos all morning. And I changed the location to the Book Rd side of Frontier Park to better mimic the topography of the Mutt.
Warm-O-Rama
20 side straddle hops
20 T-Merkins
20 Copperhead Squats (although I believe we actually did Prisoner Squats)
Downward dog
Runner’s stretch
The Thang
Thang 1: partnered up. 51 burpees, 50 jump lunges, 51 merkins, 50 Apollo Ohno’s. One partner ran the parking lot while the other partner did the work.
Thang 2: farmer carry to pavilion where we did 20 coupon step-ups. Then farmer carry to the hill. Partner 1 ran up and did 10 thrusters while P2 held decline plank at bottom of hill. Switch. Then P1 ran back up and did 10 chest presses while P2 held incline plank. Switch. Farmer carry to soccer field. P1 Murder Bunny’d out 25 yards, while P2 did a coupon Al Gore. Switch. Farmer carry back to flags.
Mary: scissor kicks, Freddy Mercury’s, and American Hammers.
Then 8 of us did a Murph, cause you know, it also happened to be Memorial Day. The ultimate double tap.
Circle of Trust
Everyone’s F3 journey is unique. I was EH’d in 2019, posted a few times, then stopped to train for a marathon. Fast forward through COVID and a move to Naperville, and my next post occured in July 2022. Today was only my fourth Q in the four years since I was EH’d. It’s ok if you have to go away for a bit – F3 will be here waiting for your triumphant return.
And I promised to improve on my average Q frequency of once per year.
Naked Man Moleskin
This was arguably the strongest start to a morning for a lot of us: beatdown + Murph + beerteria (courtesy of Snoop-a-Loop) + coffeeteria. Everyone was flying high and likely crushed the rest of their day, remembering the fallen and enjoying some adult beverages. It was another great day at the Outpost.
