Introduction
Christmas is rapidly approaching, and YHC felt it was time for a little gift to the pax from crazy uncle Ozark.
I promised a simple gift with no fancy parts to break or batteries required, something to send the pax into the rest of their day feeling… something…
All we needed was a coupon and the grit to keep moving. Not hard to do when you know Santa, his creepy Elves and his good buddy Krampus are watching you!
Warm-O-Rama
Today’s thangs depended on time to wear down the pax so we kept warm-o-rama short, sweet and brisk:
Tappy Taps in cadence x15ish
High Knees in cadence x25ish
Mountain Man Poopers in cadence x15ish
The Thang
Thang 1
Totally “borrowed” this from GoRuck Pre-Selection via Uncle Rico’s sharp eyes. I didn’t have a chance to take up his Sunday challenge, but we got ourselves a taste today.
15 min AMRAP:
2 Burpees
3 Coupon or Ruck Swings
4 Coupon or Ruck Thrusters
Increase each exercise by 1 every round. 2/3/4…3/4/5…4/5/6…
Thang 2
Good chance for some mumblechatter and happy memories of a Q where Rand McNally made us keep our coupons off the ground for the whole beatdown
EMOM
20 Coupon Swings
10 Goblet Squats
(Cusak your coupon between)
Thang 3
Not sure if anybody made it all the way through this one… but you gotta get your 6 minutes of Mary!
50-40-30-20-10 reps of
Goblet squats
Coupon swings
Mary
Captain Thor
1 Big Boy Sit-up and 1 four-count American Hammer
2 Big Boy Sit-ups and 2 four-count American Hammers
Aimed to get everyone to at least 8 or 9
High plank and shoulder taps in cadence to take us out to 0600
Circle of Trust
I like to find a thought provoking quote or aphorism for my CoTs, something that rings true to me, and often something that I feel that I need to hear or be reminded of, so I’m going with that:
You have a right to your actions, but never to your actions’ fruits. Act for the action’s sake. And do not be attached to inaction.
Self-possessed, resolute, act without any thought of results, open to success or failure
-Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 verse 48
Among many other things, we have been reminded lately that we live in a deeply uncertain world. It’s hard to say what tomorrow will bring, and perhaps harder still to know what we can or should do about it–Indeed how can you plan a course of action to address an outcome that you can’t even predict? We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and attachment to some future reward or desired outcome is a chimera and ultimately a prison whose walls we erect around ourselves. Rather than struggle against the conditions of our lives, it is far better to accept the moment for what it is and relentlessly take the next best action that we can. Not the abstract best, but the best that we can do with our imperfect understanding, our limited abilities and our faltering courage. In taking action we may find that our understanding deepens, our abilities grow, and that we possess far more courage than we thought.
Go out and do your best today.
Naked Man Moleskin
Another day, another fartsack beaten. It was great to see another coast-to-coast morning on Virtuosity, more FNGs and good humor and patience for my unholy love of coupon swings and goblet squats–I swear I didn’t really notice that they were in every thang I had planned until I was actually doing them… Probably should be more careful when I pull ideas out of my bin of thangs…
Wishing you all thick thighs, iron backs and a joy filled holiday season.
