Introduction
It was a dark & gloomy morning with temps in the teens but thankfully for the strong HIMs that showed up the parking lot snow had melted creating a great surface for the beat down to come. Today we honor legends. One legend we honor today in Dr. King who is one of the great male leaders from the last century & the other legend right here at our our very own Black Panther in Twilight who has been the example at BP that other HIMs have tried to emulate. How will you make your mark on history???
PS – Where was DJ Sump Pump? No Saturday…No Monday? Better check the disco ball is still lit!

When I think about Dr. King three themes resonate with me:
- Passion
- Dr. King was clearly passionate about what he wanted. Not only for himself, his children but for you & I. Despite being jailed almost 30 times & hundreds of death threats he continued to blaze the trail
- Remain passionate about not only your health/fitness goals but other goals in life. Never give up on what you want to achieve. There will be obstacles but nothing can truly stop you. Live it!
- Give Back
- What would you do if you were given $54,000? Dr. King donated his Nobel Peace Prize money to support the civil rights movement. Make a conscious effort to build someone up. Volunteer your time, write an uplifting note to someone, or pay for a strangers lunch.
- Doesn’t matter what you do really just do a selfless act for someone else.
- Peace
- Being peaceful during harsh & harmful times makes you stronger & wiser. That is Dr. King was a big proponent of meditation b/c it was good for making the mind strong. Dr. King was so moved by Gandhi he read many of his books & became influenced by him.
- Find a quiet time in your day to take a couple minutes to be still & let your mind rest.
“The Ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort & convenience but where he stands at times of challenge & controversy” – Dr. King
Dear heavenly father thank you for the opportunity to be out here in the gloom with these amazing men. Thank you for putting men on this earth like Dr. King who inspire us to be better & serve you every day. Hold those in our spoken prayers & those in our hearts in your hands. In your Sons name. Amen!
