Introduction

YHC had another workout planned for 1 year MANniversary, but figured we needed to check F3Naperville force readiness.  Plus, TRADOC (Training & Doctrine Command) recently revised the ACFT (Army Combat Fitness Test), and YHC figured that might be fitting for a Veterans Day Q.  PAX prepared in advance by viewing the ACFT 6 exercises, available at https://www/army/mil/acft

Circle of Trust

On Veterans Day we honor veterans for service, but I tend to be cynical today and on Memorial Day.  By that I mean that there are another 363 days per year, and we can also advocate for government to continue to support them (US Veterans Affairs system flaws, navigating benefits under Title 38, Feres doctrine obstacles to veterans/Ms & 2.0s injured as with Camp Lejeune water issues).  The politicos (“talking heads”) love to talk big about veterans, but societal obligations for service don’t end at REFRAD (release from active duty); rather, they continue for years.

Prayer requests:

Pi’s friend and work partner who passed; those facing COVID and threat thereof; those that served and their families; those serving in any capacity, especially NGB (state National Guard) handling MACDIS (military assistance for civilian disturbance) and COVID operations

Prayer.

No late arrivals and no HCs outside thread chain, so no NJP (Article 15 non-judicial punishment ~ a/k/a command “bends” you a bit) required.

0445 YHC started unloading the gear for ACFT, wondering how we were going to fit 6 tests into 45 minutes.  [Fast Forward – we almost didn’t]

COLD and CLEAR – started with YHC’s signature Pooh Bears (while Winnie the Pooh’s theme song played in background – gotta keep it light when doing Army tests, right?).  FNG likely wondering what the heck this group is all about.  We did Mosey over the course, highlighting exercises, and the 2MR began at 0522.  Sparkler and YHC (with headlamp) took lead at about 8:30-9:00 pace for ¾ mi (group of 13 stayed pretty close), dropping to about 9:00-9:30 for next ½ mi (group spaced out more at this point).  Seeing 0537, YHC made call we’d likely have to trim ¼ mi or more from Uncle Sam in order to ensure other 5 exercises fit in the timing. We all came in under 19:30 for 1¾ mi, and with that extra 90 seconds even the 6 would’ve likely qualified … YHC likely took too long on the warmup debrief, apologies Uncle Sam (you’ll get your full 2MR next time(s)).

At 0540 PAX broke into squads of 3-4 for the MDL, SPT and SDC – seemed well spaced and everyone got their exercises in.  SDC is a blast!  All PAX qualified under 3:00 and over half hit elite level for 100 points with times under 1:33. [Incorporating that into future Qs for certain.]  PAX regrouped for LTK, and with 3 minutes to go – we Moseyed back to circle-up for HRP.  All qualified with 10, and majority belted out over 30, 40 ~ although no PAX hit elite 60.  With 2 minutes for HRP up, it was 0600 on the button!

TIME WAITS FOR NO MAN: Time slipped away, and next time YHC will focus on pacing.  Even TRADOC doesn’t bang this out under 45 minutes, so all in all ~ not bad for first run!  Special thanks for Sloan from F3LaGrange and Sparkler F3Crossroads for making the trip, and welcome to Krampus (thanks Bootlegger for EHing him into F3).

TAKEAWAY: All PAX passed ACFT for “moderate” physically demanding MOS units or jobs, and many met “significant” with a few reaching into “heavy” qualification!

COFFEETERIA followed and was well attended by just over ½ of PAX ~ SOLID! Thanks to all!
