Introduction

Preblast – “MIX” IT UP WEEK continues at Black Panther. Join YHC out west as I attempt to Q every workout at BP this week Day 3: “Hell Freezes Over.” We’ll be on the MOVE as much as possible. Bring a  RUCK, wear a  WEIGHTED VEST, or just bring yourself. Whatever you want to do! Walk, ruck, run – it doesnt matter, just keep moving!!! Plan footwear for all surfaces.

Another January morning. A cold -10 degree wind chill in the air, yet 4 pax crawled out of their warm beds and joined me in the hellish, frozen gloom this morning. I went into this workout with some ideas, but also a lot of questions. How cold was it really going to be? What were the trails going to be like? Running a little bit behind only added to the questions as I wasn’t able to scout out the area as much as I’d like to.

But the clock hit 5:15 – as it always does – and it was time to roll. The F3 Principles were shared and the disclaimer was given. It was time to move!

The Thang

Mile Loop. Up around the school, along the back of the AO, and back through the parking lot. Do as many loops as you can before 5:55. Each time you return to the flags, do 25 squats before starting your next lap. Go at whatever pace you want – just keep moving!

As we started out, we found the trail much clearer than we expected, so a couple pax took off running their laps while others rucked at a good pace.

MARY:

  • Heel Touches – 10 IC
  • Flutter Kicks – 10 IC
  • LBCs – 10 IC…Recover!

Circle of Trust

I stated planning these workouts several weeks ago, but I knew I’d need to adjust a lot of things as the week went along. Today was no exception. How do we fight against the cold? Would the trails be safe to move along? A lot of unanswered questions even heading into the workout. Having plans is important, but it is also crucial that we know how to adapt along the way. Obviously I’m not just talking about leading a workout – this is true for life. The more flexible we remain, the more we can solve any problem ahead of us.

Naked Man Moleskin

The third workout of “MIX” IT UP WEEK is in the books.

My commitment to donate $10 to the F3 Naperville Foundation for every pax who joins me for every workout this week currently stands at $40. Keep it going!
