The Thang

Give Give Trade:  each PAX picks a slip of paper with an exercise and reps on it.  All PAX mingle. Walk up to another PAX, each tells the other their exercise and reps.  PAX takes that exercise.  Repeat until Q says stop.

Coupon Thumb Wars:  Each PAX puts hands through holes of coupon and challenges another PAX to a thumb war.  Single elimination, until there is a winner.

Tabata:  45 sec work, 15 sec rest.  Plank jacks, bonnie blairs, OH press, skull crushers, LBCs, curls.  Mix jump rope in every other exercise.

Coupon charades:  PAX picks a slip of paper (created by Q) that has an object or action written on it.  The PAX must use the coupon as the object or use the coupon as part of the action.  Other PAX must guess the word.  Before performing, the PAX chooses an exercise, all PAX do 10 reps of the exercise.  The PAX performs while the rest of the PAX continue repping the exercise until the word is correctly guessed.  Repeat until Q says stop.

Hang, Plank, Al Gore:  Group together 3 PAX.  1 PAX must dead hang, 1 must hold plank, and 1 must hold Al Gore until one of them fails.  When 1 fails the group must rotate to a different static hold.  Repeat until Q says stop.

Mary:  Freddie Mercurys, hold Plank

Circle of Trust

Shared experiences are extremely important.  You cannot accelerate as effectively alone.  Find a man that is accelerating, join him, and try to keep up.  If you are accelerating, grab another man and bringing him along.  Together we accelerate more quickly.

We need to get out of our own heads.  Nothing is as bad as it seems.  Pushing past hour discomfort does not take as much effort as you think.  Continue to do hard things, in order to do more hard things.

Naked Man Moleskin

It feels like there are only about 10-15 different exercises.  So, I try to get creative with how to employ them.  Also, I want to have PAX enjoy each other in the exercises.  Some workouts I go to I feel lonely just doing reps with nothing else to occupy myself.  There is mumble chatter, but sometimes that is not possible or it takes some effort to maintain.  So, I tried to think of collaborative or interactive games that incorporate exercises.  Saturdays are a good time to try out new thangs since there is a whole hour, so if a thang flops you can still get a good workout in by switching something else.

Coupon thumb war was not a good Thang.  Needs to be tweaked if I ever try it again.  Maybe do 10-20 curls before engaging in the thumb war.

Coupon charades was fine.  We got in a good amount of exercise.  It was fun.  I might do it again.

Part of getting out of our own heads is bringing things into reality that we hold in our brains.  I had these games planned for a bit and thought they were going to be great.  They were not as great as I thought, but that is part of trying new things.  Once you bring thoughts into reality you then have to opportunity to modify them or ditch them.  It is harder to ditch an idea that continues to rattle in our brains.  Get all of your thoughts out by acting on them or talking them out with another person.
