Introduction

A goal of mine is to be more consistent this year with posting. A sure way to do that is to get out and lead a bit more. YHC will  let himself down, but if others are counting on me, I will be there.

Saw this opening last Friday, so snagged it. Thursday at 2 Wolves – HC.

Got the preblast up:

@channel
If you are wanting to build some endurance and stamina while working all major muscle groups I’m cooking up just the thing…
We’ll be on the move for a good amount of this beatdown, so plan accordingly.
Bring your coupon, grit, and determination.

:coupon:  = :white_check_mark:
:running-shoe:  = :white_check_mark:
:gloves:  = :white_check_mark:
  = :white_check_mark:
:headlamp:  = if that’s the way you roll

If you don’t HC here – HC somewhere and take the :red_pill: . Let’s go men!

The plan was to get out in the fields. YHC figured they would probably drain well enough, despite the rain we were getting.

Arrived a couple minutes after 5, got some cones and headed out to the fields. They were a swampy mess. Decided today wasn’t the day we’d be doing burpees in the mud (I’ll save that for another time) and altered the plan a bit.

5:15 rolled around – core principles were shared, disclaimer given and a quick check to see who knew CPR just in case.

Off we went!

Warm-O-Rama

50 SSH in cadence – after 20 speed up every 10 SSH until 40-50 were about as fast as possible. – mumble chatter commenced at the end of this.

15 Tappy Taps in cadence.

We moseyed our way east toward the baseball field (staying on the pavement). Most of the way there, we stopped to do

10 Abe Vigotas in cacence.

Continue the mosey around the loop of the parking lot and on the way back stop to heat up the shoulders with

20 Arm Circles Forward, 20 Arm Circles Backward, 15 Seal Claps, 15 Overhead Claps, 15 Grady Corn, 20 Moroccan Night Clubs – all in cadence. YHC waited for just a couple seconds before calling recover. Mumble chatter commenced about how heavy hands were for some reason.

Mosey back toward the flags, stopping at the island before the end of the lot.

The Thang

Thang 1 – not really a thang…

10 Bear Crawl Merkins – In Cadence

Turn around and do 10 Lunge Walk Squats in cadence (YHC failed to mention stepping off with alternating feet – hopefully PAX figured it out).

Mosey on over to the basketball courts for

Thang 2 – Vicious Circle

Pax lined up and jogged around both basketball courts – last pax peeled off the line, ran to the middle, did a burpee, ran to the front of the line. After all pax did this, add a merkin to the burpee and repeato. Again, after all pax were done, add 2 burpees and repeato.

Stopped and got a quick 10 count from Bing Bong – for some reason pax complained about his count being fast, but that’s cool, rest is overrated.

Mosey back to the coupons, and make our way up the stairs (walking stairs with a coupon is good in itself..)

Thang 3 – Muscle Group focus…

At the top of the stairs circle up and do

20 curls on YHC’s command
20 Overhead Press on YHC’s command
20 Dips on a bench on YHC’s command
10 Bulgarian Squats, right leg 10 left leg on YHC’s command.

Repeato – only add 5 Bulgarian Squats to each leg on the 2nd time. Mainly because YHC wasn’t paying attention.

Mosey our way (carefully) down the stairs and over to the 40 yard dash area by the pullup bars.

20 Bent Over Rows on YHC’s command
10 Pullups OYO – come back to your coupon after
20 Bent Over Rows on YHC’s command.
20 Upright Rows on YHC’s command – try to keep elbows above wrists when doing upright rows.

Take a lap around the ninja course

20 Coupon Squats – so… this was supposed to be air squats. Donkey (beast) picked up his sandbag. Others followed suit. Nothing like peer pressure to push everyone!

Coupons down, and we did a bunch of bottom half squat pulses on YHC’s command. I honestly have no idea how many, we weren’t counting. I think we were distracted by the horrible shadow Stay Puft created with his coupon and bottom half pulses. It was like the highly suggestive scene at the end of Austin Powers…

Grab our coupons and mosey back to the start for

Mary:

20 American Hammers in Cadence

5 Big Boys on YHC’s command – YHC stopped and said let’s try for good form – no coupons on feet, soles of shoes flat on the pavement, then 20 more big boys.

20 Swimmers in Cadence

20 Heel Touches in Cadence

20 Manatees in Cadence

Theresa:

Hamstring stretch, quad stretch.

Circle of Trust

YHC has been listening to a podcast recently – the pursuit of manliness. The point is a biblical look on what manliness is, patterned after Jesus. There are some principles (like serving others) that transcend religion, though.

The episode yesterday was an interview with an endurance runner who did a 48hr dreadmill challenge to raise money for Alzheimer’s. Basically – it was 100 miles on a treadmill over the span of 48 hours. To me, that sounds terrible.

He went on to talk about how we are created for a purpose (YHC failed to mention this is a biblical principle too – everything under the sun has a purpose, something from Ecclesiastes).  On the episode, he talked about relentless forward progress as a mindset he uses when doing endurance events, and that is what he would be doing during this challenge. YHC thought about how that can be applied to other areas in life – sometimes relentless forward progress may look like wading through waste deep mud, but we need to keep pushing forward. Why? Simple. We are here for a purpose, and quitting is not a purpose.

Aye?

Prayers were said, and gratitude was given for the group of men to push each other in the morning and start the day off right. Prayers for peace, comfort and healing for the La Luz boys, and especially Boss Baby’s family.

Naked Man Moleskin

Good feedback from body glide on having music. YHC knew we’d be moving around a bit, but it’s time to get a way to carry a speaker easier for these types of workouts.

YHC loves this AO – it’s really the best in the region. So many options… YHC needs to get down here more often – the pullups were hard, so obviously something needing work on my end.

I was hoping to hit 2 miles today, only got 1.5.

Awesome to see Bing Bong out there. Love the new blood, and great job keeping up – not on the fitness end, you can run circles around me, but on terminology an such. I tried to explain knowing you were new, but not sure I did a great job.

Grateful Roach Coach wasn’t out – He would have busted my balls for saying “pushup” instead of “merkin” on the viscous circle.
