Circle of Trust
I shared with the PAX some thoughts on Lincoln Games 2023. There were tons of miles run, ruck, biked and many pounds lifted along with many minutes spent getting better physically and mentally. Tons of donations and volunteer exchanges on top.
The effort of LG is tremendous.
Whether you were a top scorer or simply someone that went above and beyond the usual, that’s is what matters…you were “willing” to do more to make a positive difference some where, to somebody.
It reminded me of a philosophy of when I used to hire sales people to join our team. There were many people who were capable of selling. People would come in with these great backgrounds and resumes but we’re they “willing” to put in the work??? Were they “willing” to really commit? Were they “willing” to learn and get better? Where they “willing” to go above and beyond to make a difference.
I used to get into fun arguments with other hiring managers. They would hire sales people. I was hiring LEADERS.
This is the “Can Do vs. Will Do” philosophy. And if you tap into it, it “will” come out in Lincoln Games. Or anything you choose.
It’s my favorite event we do all year which IMO, says a lot because F3 Naperville does many AMAZING things through out the year.
It’s at the top for me because it amplifies all 3 F’s more than anything we do.
I left the PAX with a quote and a final thought…
QUOTE:
Teddy Roosevelt once said, “Life’s greatest gift is the opportunity to work at work worth doing.”
This requires you as a leader to prioritize what that work is…
FINAL THOUGHT
It’s hard to explain to others when you go so deep into something that…they just can’t understand it…unless they experience it and feel it.
- You can read Run 26.2 miles.
- You can read Ruck 20 miles.
- You can read Bike 50 miles.
- Or read whatever the challenge is in life…
But can you experience it? Can you feel it? “Will” you do it?
This is life in the deep end. Where only the few are “willing” to go.
