Introduction

Choose Your Own Adventure – Run Club Style!

This will not be just an out-and-back. We’ll stick together for the first 30 minutes. We’ll take in the surrounding areas and maybe see a few hills. After the first 30 minutes you can choose your own path back to the flags depending on how many miles you want to log. We’ll meet back at the flags at 7:25.

Explain the first part of the run.

The Thang

The Thang

Run together to the Four Lakes Ski hill (2-2.5 miles).

Hill Ladders

Starting at the first pole, sprint to the top of the hill. Wait for the 6, then run down to the second pole.

Repeat, starting one pole closer to the top each time (Total of 5 Sprints).

I had an alternate option to modify, but everyone chose to run the hill.

Explain the run back.

You can choose your own way back depending on how many mile you want to log. I suggested three different routes. Meet at the flags at 7:25.

We ended up splitting into two groups of three PAX each.

We met at the flags at 7:21 – couldn’t have timed it better!

Mary

Stretch on OYO until 7:30.

Circle of Trust

I talked about perseverance and incremental improvement. My 2.0, who is 11, decided before last summer that he didn’t want to play baseball anymore. Then, after watching his brother play last summer, he decided in the fall that he wanted to play baseball this year. After taking a year off, I told him it would be difficult to catch up and he would have to work really hard, but that I would help him. True to his word, he’s been practicing almost every day, but baseball, unlike other sports, doesn’t provide an opportunity to practice once the season starts and you only can show improvement when you’re batting or if a ball comes to you. So, even though I can see his progress, it’s not translating to the game yet. But he keeps working at and persevering for which I give him a ton of credit and am really proud of him.

This a reminder to all of us, that we make the commitment to get up and work out at 5:15, but often we don’t notice the progress on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis because it’s incremental. However, when we look back over a 2 or 3 month period the improvement is often huge! So, remember we don’t get up for easy and keep pushing yourself to improve!

Naked Man Moleskin

Thanks to everyone for coming out and Mr. Nice Guy for having the 6.
