Circle of Trust

Been working lately on increasing my mileage and trying to become more of runner. I have geared up, with Strava app and Garmin watch for pacing (calculation: slow), and my Whoop (which confirms I haven’t died.)

I went for a run at lunch the other day on the forest trail behind my house and when I finished, I had my head down and was pushing all the requisite buttons to link and sync and calculate “how my run went.” I caught something out of the corner of my eye and looked up to see something I HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN BEFORE.

A Bald Eagle was flying straight at me and directly overhead ~20 yds up in the air. My first thought was ‘Merica! Freedom! My next thought was how glad I was that I had looked up from my phone. How many things do I miss with my head in my phone?

Secondly, I am considering another job opportunity and in this uncertainty I found a prayer from Thomas Merton that I have found helpful:

“My Lord God, I have no idea where I’m going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following Your will, does not mean that I am actually doing so.

BUTI believe that the desire to please You, does in fact please You. And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.

And I know that if I do this, YOU will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust You always, though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for YOU are ever with me, and YOU will never leave me to face my perils alone.

AMEN”

Naked Man Moleskin

~28 mph. I told the PAX they were facing snakes, not snakes AND wind. At least it didn’t rain.
