NICE and cold. Coldest yet this fall. I was looking forward to this ruck workout – been a while since I’d done one. And I liked that it had running in it. Always good for a sweat.

The Thang
One thang only. The Scotty.
The “Scotty” Challenge Tribute Workout is a collective tribute to honor British military members killed in action, and the families they left behind.
The workout was designed by performance coach and athlete Tanya Haeffele (the founder of Pyramid Apparel) for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that provides support for the children of fallen British soldiers.
“The Scotty Challenge is the ultimate fitness challenge…organised by Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the charity for bereaved British Forces children. In memory of our fallen heroes. In support of the children they leave behind…Many participants [take] on the challenge over the [UK] Remembrance weekend to remember those who have lost their lives in the service of their country.”

This morning I think of freedom given tomorrow’s election day. The Scotty is a workout designed to remember the fallen soldiers of the UK and their families that were left behind, specifically their children. These men and women died protecting the freedoms they have. But I wonder what actually is freedom?
I remember a poster one of my teachers in highscool had in the classrom – it showed two cartoon characters facing each other, nearly nose to nose. One character had outlandishly large feet, and were crushing the toes of the other (much to the pain of the other). The poster read “Stand up for your rights, but don’t stand on others”.
When I think what freedom means, I look back to my source of strength, the Word of God. Listen to this:
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13).
Make sure that your freedom is used to serve and love others – not serve yourself selfishly, or push your own views onto others. Just fricking help others, tell you love em, support them, care for them. THAT’s freedom.
