Introduction

The Preblast went up early Thursday and there were only a couple of HC’s most of the day. I had something in mind, but it was going to require 12-16 guys. It was time to start thinking about a backup plan. I saw FIB’s Preblast for his birthday and that generated a memory of a Q he had run at Black Panther about two years ago. I recall not liking it so much in the moment, but once it was over, I felt great. Most of the guys that put in their HC had not seen this one before. It felt like the time was right to do it again.

Woke up earlier than normal Friday morning because the dog wanted to go outside. Opened the back door and the cold air hit me in the face. The temperature was 28. Layered up, but knew we would be getting warm in a few minutes. Sump Pump messaged me to let me know that he was feeling under the weather and asked if I could cover his Site Q duties. I obliged and agreed to handle Site Q duties.

5:15am rolled around and it was time for the disclaimer. This is a free, volunteer, peer-led workout. I am not a professional. You need to be aware of COVID and do everything possible to distance yourself from the others around you. I have no knowledge of any injuries or fitness considerations. It is each person’s responsibility to be safe and modify exercises if you need to. We all do it, most important thing is that you don’t get hurt.so he could get some rest. Pulled into an empty parking lot. Moments later, a few more cars pulled in. Before long, we were ten strong. Fortunately, Townie HCd for the workout

The Thang

The PAX grabbed their coupons and headed over to the school playground area.

Thang 1:

The “Cooper”

Started with 10 Burpees, 10 Squats, then 10 Merkins then ran around to the other side of the school. Then 9,9,9 of same. Then run back to the starting point and continue this until your are all the way down to 1 rep of each exercise. Pretty simple, not easy. Just like the time before, we finished with about 10 minutes before Mary. I told the men we were going to do it again, starting with 10 reps of each exercise. I told them that we are in the third quarter, the quarter that determines the ultimate direction and outcome. In the book FREED TO LEAD, OBT reminisces about his time with the Harvard Crew team, where his coach told him that in the Third 500 the race would be won or lost. This was the time for the PAX to push through the difficult portion of the workout. We completed the runs and exercises with reps of 10 and 9 together with individual PAX calling out downs for each exercise. We made it back to our coupons and then headed back to the flag for Mary. We covered nearly two miles during the running portions.

Mary:

Flutter kicks with coupon overheard in cadence x 20

The hardest portion of the day was behind us now.

Circle of Trust

We thanked God for this beautiful morning and the opportunity to work out together in the gloom.

We asked for prayers for Mr. Miyagi’s MIL.

We asked for prayers for the kids that would be out on Halloween and for their parents.

We asked for prayers for At At’s newly born 2.0 and family.

Amen.

Naked Man Moleskin

I remember when FIB did this Q about two years ago. In particular, I remember when we completed it and he said we were going to continue doing it. I thought to myself, okay, we can start at 1 and work our way back up. No, that’s not how FIB rolls, he said we would start over at 10. That was a pretty significant blow to me at that time. I was gassed. I wanted it to be over. I wanted something easier, but easy wasn’t going to make us better. This was the time for us to make gains and not take the easy route. Thank you for taking the hard route with me this morning!
